Checking system files  - CMD

SFC is a command that is used in Windows over CMD. The purpose of command is to check the various system files integrity. There are different switches that are used with SFC.

Syntax for SFC is:

sfc [/scannow] [/verifyonly] [/scanfile=file] [/verifyfile=file] [/offbootdir=boot] [/offwindir=win] [/?]

/scannow : "This switch check and repair various system files".

/verifyonly : "This switch only verifies the integrity of system files".

/scanfile=file   : "This solely check the file name assigned to it, and repairs it".

/verifyfile=file : "Works like /scanfile=file but does not repair".

/offbootdir=boot : "Used to define the boot directory in case its running from outside of window".

/offwindir=win : "Used with /offbootdir=boot to define the windows directory".

/? : "Help Switch".

Examples of SFC Command:

sfc /scannow

sfc /verifyonly
