"“The best of possible lives” is the name of a multimedia art project to reflect on how life can change in a time in which individual aspects are easily changeable.
The global market of goods opened the door to a global flow of people. The policies about lifelong learning and employability are promoting professional deviations in otherwise constant working paths. The Internet and the polarization of taste is adding new layers of social interaction and new tools to mirror ourselves.
Does all this bring us to a higher level of awareness and responsibility about the choices we make? Or maybe is it leaving us in a permanent limbo, where decisions are either always modifiable out of conveniences or dipped in anxiety.
The first part of “The best of possible lives” is an audio installation that will be broadcasted during the Gala Dinner of the European Academy of Design in Gothenburg (Sweden).
The audio project aims to collect words, sounds and voices from the present migration. Migration itself is the creation of a new possible life, while we live a parallel existence ongoing in the place that we left.
Several people from Iceland, Iran, Greece, Estonia, Indonesia, Italy, Brasil, United States and Poland read a series of words related to the process of building a new existence while leaving another. They read in their own language and in the new one. Each accent is a thread to be followed in this global whisper that contains ideas, hopes, expectations, fears but it is especially full of decisions that are changing the world in which we're living."
