The theme song to Arctic Air composed by Tim McCauley and performed by Tanya Tagaqfeatures a musical style known as throat singing. When asked about the inspiration behind the theme and the use of the style, composer McCauley shared the following:  "When I was talking about the theme music with the producers of Arctic Air, the idea of using throat singing came up right at the start. I am always excited to learn about musical forms that are not familiar to me so I began to do some research and in all of my web searches one name kept on showing up... Tanya Tagaq. I realized that Tanya was known around the world and I began to dig deeper to find out more about her music. I came upon an interview she had done where she performed various little pieces and I latched on to some of the rhythms and began working on an outline for the main theme. To make a long story short, after I finished writing the theme I finally found Tanya, at the time eight months pregnant and living in Brandon Manitoba, and asked her to sing on the theme. She said yes, but told me that she was unable to travel so we found a studio in Brandon and a great engineer named Bryce Yaworsky and with me on the other end of a telephone we recorded Tanya's beautiful performance."
