THE LEATHERWOODS RETURN
Jayhawks drummer Tim O'Reagan was previously in a band with Todd Newman called The Leatherwoods, hailing from Topeka, Kansas. They put out only one full length album - in 1992 on Peter Jesperson’s Medium Cool label. This album, Topeka Oratorio, was co-produced by Paul Westerberg (who also played on the album and co-wrote some of the songs) and has become something of a lost classic over the years, as those who have been lucky enough to have heard it will likely attest; it’s an album with many, many charms. The Leatherwoods, who just performed their first show in almost 25 years, will be opening for the always awesome Tommy Keene at the Turf Club in St. Paul on October 16.
