I love how the shot of them seeming to be uninterested with playing soccer is the one where 4 out of 6 of them are in fact wearing the kit. Not even 3, 4! And I'll understand if it's just the first years because you can say they're just abiding by politeness culture. But nope... Someoka/Kevin, Shourin/Tim, Shishido/Sam, and Kurimatsu/Tod all are wearing theirs already!!

And then someoka (already in gear) brought that up specifically then we learned that they were currently in fact waiting for the field to be available. Someoka specially was hoping they can at least play today. I know the first movie have more on this but this alone is just so 🥹 (someoka fake idgafer i saw you wearing the kit!!!!)

That's why endou/mark knew 😌

But also duh. That's why they all panicked when the club could possibly be banned

Remember the year we checked into the hotel and found a midget convention?

Radio analyst and former shutdown defenseman Chris Therien said that during the first period of the Flyers’ Thursday night win over the Rangers. I was only half listening when I heard it, so I’m not sure what hotel or what city or what other memory triggered this one. But it sure did grab my focus, and I spent the next minute-plus transfixed and literally gaping into space while I listened to a mind-bogglingly extended discussion of the event that (finally, mercifully) ended when what sounded like wet-eyed laughter exploded in response to play-by-play man Tim Saunders’s quip that the “short stack” had been the breakfast item of choice at the convention-affiliated hotel restaurant.

Whatever your thoughts on political correctness (or, if you’d rather, considerate behavior), I think many of you will agree that even just saying the words “midget convention” on the radio is either an enormously bold, enormously careless, or enormously ignorant thing to do.

However, might it be that 97.5 FM’s Flyers broadcast audience is bold, careless, and/or ignorant enough for this not to be noteworthy?

All you Philadelphia Area locals, will you please keep an eye and an ear out for any listener blowback or media commentary and let me know what you learn. Thank you!

Also, Chris Therien, if you ever happen to read this, I still love you. I just want you to be nice.

The One Thing I Learned from the Flyers' Oct 5 Loss to Montreal

[Tyler learned a lot more than I did, I think, so stay tuned for his commentary if you want real analysis. All I did was listen to snippets of 97.5FM's radio broadcast, via NHL.com.]

Tim Saunders, the Flyers' play-by-play announcer, is not afraid to use the word "hell" on the radio. I wrote down two examples:

1. "Nobody knew where the hell the puck was."

2. "What the hell are they waiting for?"

This, in my opinion, is a good thing. Hell is the greatest lie organized religion has ever perpetrated. It has been the world's leading cause of homicidal anxiety for millennia. And to treat the word as anything more than just another word is to give the lie power.

So, what I'm saying is: Good work Tim Saunders. Let's hope Chris Therien joins in next broadcast. And, for those of you who believe in one or another monotheist ghost story about infinite suffering, take it from an agnostic religious studies major who forgets most of what he learned in college: You have nothing to worry about. Be good not because you're afraid but because it's the nice thing to do.
