This shows the Timberliner, a summer weekend train which would leave Detroit late on Friday afternoon, arriving at Mackinaw City around midnight. It would return to Detroit late Sunday afternoon. It was primarily used by those who had vacation homes in northern Michigan. This photo was taken on Labor Day in 1962. The Timberliner was the LAST scheduled NYC passenger train to ever leave Mackinaw City. A few minutes earlier the daily RDC3 Beeliner had arrived from Detroit. It was the LAST scheduled NYC passenger train to ever arrive at Mackinaw City. As soon as the RDC3 was unloaded, it was coupled to the rear of the Timberliner where it can be seen just a few moments before the final passenger train departed. September 03, 1962
It is the last of the season for the NYC "Timberliner." When it returns the following summer, it will be diesel-powered. Cheboygan, Michigan September 5, 1955
This is my latest RCT3 project, themed after the well known creepy pasta story of the Rake. While I meant to finish this around Halloween, work and other things got in the way of it's release. I hope you guys enjoy it!
