Valentine’s Day in the Valley Part 2
I drove across town. I hoped she’d be home. It had been a really long time since I’ve seen her and truthfully, my nerves are getting the better of me. I don’t know what she’d feel or think, my turning up on her doorstep. But she hasn’t deserved half of the shit that’s happened to her. Lucille dying and her being left in the dark with what to do or think next...having to be strong for her kids. Her husband missing in action...leaving her to run things by herself. I’m sure I’d be the last person she’d want to see now. But she was there for me when I was injured and she gave me a place to stay and heal. There’s still a lot to discuss. But I hope she knows that I care and I’m her friend...who now shares common ground.
I approach the door and a light rain has started. I feel the drops of water on my face and I scrub a hand through my short, blonde choppy hair. She looks up from the sink in the kitchen and I’m standing there with the bouquet and card in my hand. “Hey...sorry for coming unannounced.... @mamabearlarusso
Lady L:
I know I promised to come up with another name for ya...but you know me...old habits die hard....just know I appreciate all you’ve done for me...and I hope you have it in your heart to forgive the actions of the past and heal yourself. We have to do what we can to move on. Let’s plan something soon - XO Johnny
I see her looking at me with daggers in her eyes. I expected it. I didn’t expect her to turn cartwheels cause I showed up outta no where....I nod and lay the flowers down on the patio table along with the card and turn to leave. I shove my hands in my pockets and turn my face to the rain. I walk back to my car.
