TIME TO CARE: Not Just On Christmas

During the Christmas Season, we are more compelled to share, to give and to remember the people around us. It is as we know "The Season of Giving." We try to make happy memories and encourage hope, love, unity and peace.

Around the world, it is a REALITY that many sad and tragic events happen - hunger, wars, deaths, famine, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, and storms. It is heartbreaking when families are separated, homes are destroyed, and most especially when children are missing and dying. My heart truly cries out for these tragedies.

But, to give credit to some good-hearted human beings and humanitarians, they try in their best capabilities to bring peace, order, hope and help those people and areas in need. I BELIEVE IN THE GOOD that each human being possess, the FIGHTING SPIRIT AND EFFORT that each one gives to MAKE GOOD THINGS POSSIBLE.

In the recent news, where great tragedy hit the country of the Philippines in the Southeast Asian Region of the world, where a super typhoon Haiyan (the strongest recorded typhoon to ever make landfall) made through the country last November 8, 2013, and the news are truly devastating.

Homes, buildings, schools, and even airports were immensely destroyed in this event. Families had to flee and some were not lucky enough.The storm ravaged certain provinces in the Philippines where it forced millions of people to take shelter and claiming as many as 10,000 lives as recently reported. It would seem like a giant tornado hit them even if it was not possible in this part of the world.

This is a very, very, very, sad and painful news to me especially when the Christmas Season is so near. May we find it in our hearts to at least offer a prayer for them. Of course, help will always be a welcome endeavor. It is hard not to get emotional when news like this is just depressing and disastrous in such magnitude.

Caring is not only during Christmas. Caring, giving hope, supporting, encouraging, donating, helping out, becoming a team, and praying may be done anytime and any where. It does not have to be Christmas for us to make it a season of giving. Rebuilding may be a difficult task but I believe with all the help from each person, there is a way. Let us all pray that they may have the strength, fortitude, hope and determination to rise up from this devastation. May they be guided as they go through this. For all the help and volunteers out there, may they be blessed for their kind hearts and supportive actions - you are TRULY GREAT. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people in the Philippines.
