There were very few things that Cassie could say she hated doing. Five things, maximum, might make that list. Talking to Max Caulfield and making excuses for her friends topped off the list as number one and two most hated activities, and Cassie was about to do both of those things in one go. Being the designated nice girl really sucked sometimes.
Classes had already let out for the day and Cassie had shooed her friends off with the promise that they’d meet up for dinner and party planning once she was done playing PR. She easily spotted Max from the steps of the school, alone for once, sitting at one of the picnic tables on the quad. Cassie took a deep breath, bracing herself for whatever stupid hipster crap this girl was about to say, and then approached her.
“Hi Max.” Cassie dropped her backpack onto the bench next to Max and then pulled herself up to sit on the table, popping a foot on her knee and leaning forward to rest her elbows on her calf and her chin in her hands. “Do you have a sec?”
