"not just that, but god, i messed that up too. did you see she left candy for me? i didn't even send her anything back," coco deflates on their chair and turns the heart shaped bracelet in their hand, as though they were unworthy of even this tiny trinket. ignoring the fact they had nearly twenty of them already, tucked safely away in their reserved spots.

"what sort of friend am i if i can't even keep my promises? i keep making time for everything else, but -- my god, this is so hard. for no reason."

"oh, come on. even that sends the wrong message. that i can only see her if i'm working." a long groan and a face buried in their palms, utterly dismayed. "i used to be good at this, too. what even happened?"

[ * I do believe it is called 'growing up'. ] with a gentle huff, chara floats over -- choppy hair brush against coco's forehead as they try to meet their gaze, red hues softening into something sympathetic despite their earlier exasperation. feeling the chilly air, coco's hands fall away from their face until their brown gaze meets chara's crimson.

[ * Every mistake can be met with forgiveness, can it not? A certain crybaby told me that. ] their smile grew cheeky, meeting the dimples beneath their eyes. [ * And it is welcome if it comes from others, but to come from oneself is what is most important. ]

they reach out. their finger is nothing but a faint breeze against their forehead where it taps. coco squeezes their eyes shut either way, like they always do.

[ * Candy and movies are acceptable year-round. ]

a huff, though it is followed by a snort shortly after. "okay, fine. but wallowing is good sometimes too, okay? gets all the stress out."

[ * Not when you are a captive audience witnessing the same thing a hundred times over, ] came chara's response, in a protest so childishly grumbled coco couldn't help but burst into giggles.
