I'd like to play with some Tinder mini-stories like this.
Tell me what you think about it. Do you prefer long or short ones :p ?
*edit : well so apparently someone said you can’t send pictures on tinder, so this wasn’t a very good idea :D

The Other Side Of The World
(NOT A WRITER but I’m trying to tell some story)
PART 1
From the Philippines, working in Dubai UAE, a 27-year old girl who didn’t have a boyfriend for more than 10 years tried his luck of meeting his man from this app which was known to be only for fun.
I’ve been working for more than 5 years now and has been so focused with helping my family. And with that I didn’t have the luxury to get into a relationship. I wasn’t ready as well. With my sister’s past relationships and even my cousins. I thought that I don’t want to get into a relationship were it will not last long. I couldn’t waste my time with that. Knowing that when I love, when I fall in love, I eventually give my all.
I had guys trying to hit on me but I tried my best to stop myself from liking me back because of my responsibilities and dreams for my family. I didn’t want to be selfish and I couldn’t leave them alone where all they have was me supporting them financially.
I think I wasn’t ready as well, emotionally and financially to settle down. I know that some people would say that guys will take care of you, I didn’t believe that. I think it’ll be just another responsibility and commitment. I was so committed to my family that I can’t give half attention to them.
That was way back 2015-2019. When my mum died on November 2019, the more I told myself that I won’t be able to get married now that I am going to take fully care of our family. I know that I’ve been doing that ever since I’ve been working, but I think now that my mum left us, I realized that I needed someone to be with me too. Is it a selfish reason? I don’t know. But I think I deserve to have someone who can take care of me too while I take care of my family. Although, eventually I’m gonna take care of my own family too but at least, I’m already open to it.
Fast forward to October of 2020, it was during the Pandemic and most of us got nothing to do, I decided to download Tinder.
So, I got some matches that interests me but at the end of most conversations they just want the “fun”. I got tired of it actually and thought that I won’t find anyone here. Until, an add popped out about a promo for a month experience of PREMIUM were you can change the location. I tried it and chose California since it’s where my uncles live and I always wanted to go and visit them someday. Or even live there actually if I found someone from there.
After trying the premium, I immediately change the location to California and chatted with so many guys who were surprised that I am living in Dubai and they were able to match someone so far. Like the other side of the world, literally.
I chatted with lots of guy, like other Tinder users, and just choose which one will click with you. I have this guys, he was a Fil-Am, I thought he was sweet and I was comfortable talking with him. We even videocalled each other and thought that he can be the one.
But I also chatted this one guy, we haven’t talked that much tho but we chatted. Most of the time it was just “hellos and how are yous” then a lil bit of getting to know each other. I stopped chatting him coz he was a busy person and doesn’t reply that much. He’s actually a Teacher and a Student doing masters. So I didn’t bother him that much and stopped chatting him unless he does. One time he called through an international call while I was at work. I was surprised because he called thru his mobile and not FaceTime or any internet free calls. So, I asked him why he called. He said, “Well, I didn’t hear from you anymore.” I told him the real reason that I was shy to disturb him while he’s busy with his stuff. Then he said, “I really appreciate it that you understand my situation. Few girls are like that. But I really called because I don’t want you to forget about me.” And I was ready to scream coz that was flattering. For someone who haven’t dated (formally) since birth he got my attention there. So we started messaging even if I was still in contact with Dan, the Fil-Am guy. Coz I wasn’t sure yet how serious Sam was with me.
January 2021 I got Covid. We lost contact me and Dan, I rested during quarantine days but still able to chat but Dan disappeared. Sam and I were still chatting but not everyday. It was fine tho, coz I was focusing on getting better and I was also with a roommate whom I thought I liked and likes me back. I was having a fantasy that we can be together but she had a girlfriend so I stopped myself from falling for him. I was hurt that he lead me on or should I say I fall for him but then I thank God that I was able to stop myself from falling completely to him.
Weeks after telling Mike, my roommate, to not message me anymore and we’ll just talk when we’re at home, I continued messaging Sam. Our communication was becoming more consistent than before. I get too attached so easily so when he disappeared for a while I felt like he was ignoring me, so I had to posts stuff on social media about how guys just try to lead girls on and don’t even say what their intentions are. I think he got pissed off and reacted to my snapchat and told me honestly that he doesn’t like me throwing all my feelings to social media instead of telling him how I really feel. So we became honest to each other and told him what I really feel.
After that conversation, we became fine and started really communicating. We even got to the point of having an agreement that while waiting for us to see each other in person we’re going to get to know each other. And that we’re going to call each other someday and do FaceTime.
Right now, as of March 2021, he’s becoming sweeter and even trying to do his best to adjust. Although, most of the time I’m the one adjusting with the timings since he’s still busy at work and his class and I am on my one-month vacation :)
I am hoping that one day he’s the one. That he can be the man for me. But I don’t know lol. We’ll see.
I just went on a date. We got Mexican food. I’m surprised she didn’t ghost on me after days of silence but to my shock, tonight she texted “hi” and I followed through.
Unlike a lot of recent women I’ve met, she could really carry conversation and at least seemed somewhat interested in what I did (most girls I’ve met in the last couple weeks just want to talk about themselves).
In the last ten minutes of our conversation, the metoo movement came up and she asked me if I’ve been “metooed”. I said yes. She said “Were they lying?” I said yes.
This came up after she mentioned that Woody Allen is a pervert. I asked if she’d read both sides of the story about him. No surprise there: she hadn’t.
I told her about false memories, about how even her and I would have different recollections of this date and that those memories might have change in time. Though she works with people, trying to help them, she didn’t really seem to understand what I was saying. She shivered in the middle of one of my sentences and I knew she wanted to leave so we did.
I got home and debated if it was worth sending the text you see above. In the end I determined that it was: I thought she was cute and fun to be with. But the connection wasn’t there for her.
#3- Douche avec Pointy Shoes
I'll give this guy a tiny bit of credit; he was pretty cool before we met in person. We had "intellectual" conversations on the phone from topics ranging from our existence to stories of his career as a photographer in Japan.
Everyone on Tinder would be lying if they weren't a little bit shallow- we swipe right for a reason and it's not for their personality. He was tall and seemed cute. If I'm being honest I probably swiped right because of his orange hair (who doesn't want to date a ginger?) He claimed to be a model in the past but I saw his instagram...he's not THAT attractive, let alone a model. He also claimed to have his bachelors degree AND his masters, which I didn't question but found odd from his background experience and his age. He was 25 but the history just didn't match up. I didn't care, I wasn't looking for a husband and he was nice.
With that, we planned a meet up downtown. Straight away it was pretty obvious this guy was a joke. He was wearing a dress shirt, pointed shoes and pants so tight they curved right over his bulge(GROSS BTW)- they say dress for success but taking in the fact that I knew he rented a room with 4 other guys, was unemployed and didn't even own a camera (some photographer right?) I was even more baffled when he wanted to stroll through residential streets to see houses he couldn't afford. It was very awkward and I felt like I needed to escape.
He kept going on and on about a start up company that was top secret. I got annoyed and called him out on his bullshit to which he got extremely offended. I lured him to the centre of downtown where I proceeded to say these exact words "so, I'm going to walk this way to meet a friend, if you're walking this way too...cool, if not see you later or not....bye."
and I booked it...like a lady.
LATER LOSER.
