I know a diagnoses can help a lot but for me the idea of trying to fit my mental illness into a box of symptoms just stresses me out. Like I wont be "sick enough" for a diagnosis

Sorry I didn’t reply to this last night. But yeah I definitely feel this. On one hand a diagnosis might be super helpful, but what if they say no? Or if you do get it, then what? Specially with personality disorders. it’s kind of a mess either way. For me at least.

Is that story about Hugh Scott made up? I want to write him a letter. I think its important for authors to be recognized!

It’s not made up no, it’s a memory from almost 20 years ago so there might be some rose tinted spectacles in place, but the event was very much real and it meant a lot to me. There’s even been several others on here who have chimed in to say they remembered him going to their schools and being a very fun and inspiring man to talk to. Some people didn’t even remember him they just remembered the carrot pen. (Either that or there was a mass hallucination in the 90s for Scottish children aged ten and up of a white bearded man with a carrot pen)

If you’re going to try the email on Scottish Book Trust I wish you luck, I tried regarding an inquiry about finding more of his books and didn’t get a response, but it’s still early days and I dare say it’s managed by someone in West Dumbartonshire and handed over to him (or his agent if he still has one) eventually.
