@lizinprogress tagged me in a thing.
how old are you? 29, for five more days.
what’s your current job? horticulturist, working as the only year-round employee at a little plant nursery, where I get to do pretty much all the things that have to do with growing plants and selling them and training the occasional intern.
what are you talented at? growing plants – how do you think I ended up with this job? Plants just *make sense* to me in ways people often don't. And I think I'm also pretty good at explaining plants to people, whether they're interns/apprentices or customers. (So, Liz, if you ever need any help with your gardening plans, you know who to ask.)
what is a big goal you are working towards (or have already achieved)? Becoming a master horticulturist. I've finished and passed all the classes, now I just need to buckle down and finish my thesis-like thing. (I have a month and a half until it has to be finished and proofread and printed and handed in, argh.)
what is your aesthetic? Still not sure what that even means... bright colours, I guess, and lots of them. And irresponsible amounts of plants.
do you collect anything? Houseplants. And books, guess, but that's not so much in the spirit of collecting as "I like to read and I like being surrounded by books".
what’s a topic you always talk about? Tad Williams and his books.
what’s a pet peeve of yours? People who think they're better than others. Bad spelling. Badly written fantasy books. (I mean, yeah, different tastes and all, but some books I've read, I still wonder how they ever got published.)
good advice to give? Nobody else is better than you (even if sometimes we have to act like they are, for our own safety or to keep our jobs.) You're not better than anyone else (however much we all want to be.)
what are three songs you’d recommend? Tough question, because on the one hand, too much to choose from, and on the other hand, I'm just not a music person.
I Am Yours by the Makemakes – say what you want about ballads at the ESC, that's my cousin on the drums, and the song has a lot of personal meaning for me since it was played at our grandfather's funeral.
Morrigan by Omnia because I’m endlessly amused by the contrast between quiet, beautiful music and the lyrics in the last part.
And... hmm... well, let’s throw a fandom thing in there, In Cathyn Dair from Tad Williams’ Memory Sorrow and Thorn books. I get that song stuck in my head just from reading it, and I love being able to listen to it!
So, who wants to do this too? @hazelandglasz, @tinjam, @princessofbadassery, @teenwhovian14, @blogglebabbles? If you want to. And anyone else who feels like it - I’d love to get to know you all better!
