i continue to have terrible focus and lots of writer’s block, but there are 1k terrible words for the final chapter of my current wip as well as 1k terrible words written for a lil sumthin else i’m working on
tonight i longboarded around my neighborhood at sunset while listening to the sunday obc and i felt at ease for the first time in months
This week has been a bit of a challenge - haven’t had a lot of time in the morning to get things done (or really, as MUCH as I would like) so progress is a lot slower than I anticipated. I did get all the images onto the mesh and wanted to show some close ups. This is a floated round art with a deep mat (let’s just call it 8ply for you frame aficionados out there). This frame is based on a new frame at the shop I work at from a company called Bella Moulding.
I have to find the thumbnail parameters for this and double check all the files before moving on to S3 versions.
Finished the circle around Isengard:)
Just a “quick” (really not so quick) fudging of patterns to see how it will look. Second photo with faded simlish logo.
Side note on the comments from the last post. @tumblinrob - I had considered a really basic model with wheels (two, actually, where it would ‘need to tilt’ to ‘roll’ it) but still opted to pass as it would have added a few too many polys. Unless I am thinking about this the wrong way - the method of adding an additional item to make this work with optional wheels would be pretty much the same problem of too many polys on one square. It’s not really a question of where on the map - I could easily make some more room. I didn’t want to offer a obscenely high (2000+) poly item where more than one could be on display at once. While I am not a huge stickler for rigid poly limits, I don’t want to kill anyone’s game either.
@simplypixeling - I do recycled textures - that’s exactly where my mind went too.
Getting closer.
I think I have at least two new sets for each of the books.
All of the images show the original textures in the first postion(s) - the standing books will have what I am calling an ‘illuminated’ cover, marble, and vintage (marble and vintage will be in one set)
The laying book will have the Korean kids book as well as a Japanese style notebook.
I still have to give consideration to the photo album. I am thinking it should just have the original photos (not shown) and some different paper/cover options. This is the sort of thing that others can fill with their own things that they are interested in - right? That being the case - I am not sure how many color options for this particular mesh. Probably just a handful. You crazy kids and your recolors will have to improve upon it when it’s released.
I need to look over the sets one more time before I start importing the textures to the mesh. Slow, slow, and more slow.
First time in a long while I am fiddling back in photoshop on one of the books to translate for S4 and introduce new styles for S3. This is the open book from the “Mementoes” set - styles in photos 1 - 3 are some Korean kid’s book covers - I have a ton of these and I find them charming. While I know many prefer simlish exclusively for their game - it would be a challenge for me to alter the covers enough without also losing what is part of their charm.
Photos 4 - 6 are more “blank book” style with decorative paper covers. That last one might alter - I am not sure if I want to have lettering on the label for these.
I am moving a little slowly still, but it’s progress. Cannot say when I would have these ready - had originally hoped that I would have some sort of Halloween gift given the look of some of the covers for the standing/laying books (photo 7) but we inner goth child/creepy kids love that shit all year.
