oh another thing about exams in new zealand is that they compare everyone's grades in the whole country and it has to make a chart that looks 'right' and if it doesn't then they adjust the points you have to get to pass which can make a bunch of people fail for no reason other than for the graph to be a perfect bell curve

That’s...really bad and dismisses many things that would make a test a good test. I had a lecture about tests and different reference norms last semester and this is like the prime example of how to NOT do it :D

in new zealand we have NCEA which a series of 3 hours exams over the course of i think 3 weeks? and we have those at the end of the year for 3 years running but we also have exams and assignments all throughout the year and have to get specific amounts of credits at a certain level to pass the year and each course etc and if you get caught cheating you can be expelled/suspended and failed, also it goes on your record forever and I feel like they can stop you from doing exams in future too?

honestly like I know it's meant to be funny but I was really bothered by it. like it was just implying that nobody cares about his mental health and that it doesn't matter which is half the reason he struggles so much???
