Emerald eyes widened in pure terror, much like that of a deer caught in headlights, Sakura could only stare up at the masked stranger wondering why there was a kunai pressed against her small throat. Certainly, many people had told her the dangers of playing by herself in the woods, but never before had she actually paid them any mind. The young kunoichi was completely frozen by the fear that gripped her so tightly. Was this one planning on killing her? What could she have been worth, anyway? Maybe this one was an indiscriminate killer, and it didn’t matter her age. Regardless of the reasoning for this one pressing a cold blade to her porcelain neck, Sakura was absolutely terrified for her life.
Something wasn’t right. This kid was not the one he had been expecting. First of all, her hair was pink. The kid he had been looking for was blond, and could have been held for a high ransom. Kidnapping usually wasn’t his forte, but he was being paid quite a bit to get this blond kid and hand them over. Likely, the kid would be killed, and the parents would be scammed out of their money. Kakuzu hadn’t cared, except for the cash he would make.
“Don’t you dare scream,” he warned her, then slowly put his kunai away. What the hell was he supposed to do now? Let her go? She would more than certainly tell the authorities, and then he wouldn’t be able to get the kid whose mark actually mattered. This was a fine mess. And it was dipping into an area that was uncomfortable, even for someone as terrible as him. This was why he didn’t use kids for their bounties. And, it usually gave time for their bounties to grow if one let them grow up.
“Do as your told and you won’t get hurt. Understand?”
