I started readin My Brother's Husband after I saw you post about it and wow, the part with the little kid coming out to Mike like tore my heart like I wish I had a gay adult to talk it out with (I'm only 22) it's so good thank you
i’m really glad it affected you so deeply, and i’m always glad to spread the word on queer comics
you’re welcome!
I love this blog and was wondering if anyone could help. I have been struggling with my identity as a Mexican American woman (I'm 22). I am heavily assimilated to the point where I don't speak Spanish and I don't have a very fleshed out history of Mexicans. I was wondering if anyone knew of good literature or articles about not only our history but of what it's like being Mexican American? I don't know if that makes sense, but any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.
hello! i identify as mexican american and i think it’s hard to pinpoint a universal type of experience, since we all navigate our identities in such diverse ways. i think a good place to start is with gloria anzaldúa’s borderlands/la frontera: the new mestiza. i think it gives a good intersectional view of being mexican american, especially as a woman.
also always keep in mind, regardless of how you exist in your identity, it’s still valid. you don’t have to speak spanish or be well-versed in mexican american history/culture to identify as such. you are who you are!
here are some things that i think would be helpful though:
chicana feminist thought: the basic historical writings edited by alma m. garcía
massacre of the dreamers: essays on xicanisma by ana castillo
there’s a documentary called Chicano! on youtube–here’s the link to the first part: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xl6JPNiPeVY
i do strongly suggest the first few works though, especially since the history of mexican american culture/the movement was so heavily dominated by men. followers feel free to add!

“In conclusion, I will not write a paper that is tying wealth to personal worth and intelligence especially in a system made to keep me in poverty/debt for the rest of my life.”

Thank you Josie, but I must argue that your own Big Dyke Energy outpaces my own. You truly are the strongest lesbian

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? What lesbian stereotypes do you fit into? Lol 😂
I like the east coast or the pacific northwest! I like coasts but also rain.
And stereotypes:
Don't shave
hate m*n
wears plaid
Short hair
*butch stereotypes here*
I’m a huge fucking lesbian
