HEYHEYHEY!!! ive discovered a fun way to make light leaks or any potential colorful lighting to add it in your edits the way y’all desire! ⋆˚🌈。 (procreate or photoshop)
1. open a new layer, and select brushes, go look for the Luminance section and choose the Lightleak brush.
2. now set the brush Size to your liking, i like to set it BIG 30~70% & the Opacity to 100%.
3. now draw it all over the picture, go up and down, combine some different colors, rotate it or whatever just go CRAZYY, like this!
4. now the fun part hehe... open the light leaks layer and change the blending mode from Normal → to either (Vivid Light, Liner Light, or Color Dodge)
5. see? very colorful ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜) .ᐟ now simply, just adjust it! (in the Adjustment panel to the left) what i always do:
play with the Motion Blur a bit to make it look smooth.
add a bit of Noise textures (optional)
lower the Opacity a bit and erase any unwanted parts.
EXTRA ★ you can use any brushes in-case you don't have the LightLeak one, just like here, i just used a regular Airbrush Blend brush and did the same process, easy!
...anddd YIPPEE!!! we are finished my people! hopefully this would be a nice little helping tip to anyone SHARKSSS!!!
hi! I'm sure you've been asked before (I looked but couldn't find if you'd answered this already) but I was just wondering how you edit your photos to turn out so dreamy, they're stunning! if it's a long process I'll take any editing tips you're willing to share :)
HEYHEYHEY anon!
ik, i took my sweet time answering this i hope you r around to see this AHHH but TRUST i was preparing for ya! i gotcha ya! better late than never ay?
☆ gshade/reshade shaders I use
★ my SRWE setting
☆ cool textures from @elderwisp that Ive been using LOTS (thank you for saving us wisp🫂)
★ my pinterest board including some extra editing features that might interest you!
now, imma showcase my process in procreate during editing, ngl my editing is very minimal but has a nice touch effect to me, but I'll let you judge! lets go:
COLOR ADJUSTMENT
First thing first, i always adjust the brightness & the curves (especially with dark pictures). I always set it to 52~ 54% with the brightness but with the curves I play with the Gamma to my liking (you could also try the R/G/B to adjust any loud color!)
Then I experiment with Color Balance tool under the Adjustments panel, to pop up some specific lighting or shifting to cold or hot colors- basically similar to color grading! Using the tools Midtones & Highlights.
SHADOWS
my favorite part, adding Shadows! I use two methods for adding shadows recently, and ngl it might be hilarious to showcase it but:
1☆ i use a cheeky old method that i used to do it with photoshop years ago, where i duplicate two other layers from the original version and make one at a Normal 'light' setting and place it above all layers & the (Color Burn or Liner Burn) 'dark' setting in the middle. make sure to not touch the OG layer at all, in case you messed up the new Normal 'light' layer while erasing on it later.
Now i work on the 'light' layer and use the eraser tool & set the opacity at 50~30% to erase the spots that i wanna show shadows on!
2☆ the other method that i add shadows with is: drawing! open a new layer, for now, I use the brushes (Soft Brush/Blend) and set the color of the brush 'Black' and I try to make the opacity the lowest i could & erase any edges from the drawing.
ᯓ☆ with adding shadows, i love focusing on making the edges of the eyes, mouth, jaws, and my characters veins darker, especially eyelids and the hair roots sometimes!
combining the two methods together looks neat and make the character pops out right? I LOVE SHADOWING.
LIGHTLEAKS & SPARKS
alright, I always add the brush lightleaks in my works, it's like a must:
open new layer,
choose whatever color you desire (I chosed hot pink/red because it gradients to oranges/yellows with the lightleaks brush),
make the brush BIG at 50~90% & the opacity 100% & brush edit to your liking.
open the Adjustment panel,
and click on Motion Blur tool to make the lightleak 'Overlapping' together- I adjust it very minimal at 25~40%.
Then, click on Bloom tool, I make the bloom at 40~65% and I play with the Transition/Size/Burn a bit to my liking.
go back and click on the layer itself and lower the opacity to 80~65%.
*extra* sparks you wonder, are just drawing any little detail to your character eyes i ain't the best, my drawing always sucks but what i do is open a new layer, use the Lightpen brush, add a little neon spark and a white circle in the eyes! (or even drawing a look similar to Chromatic Aberration 🔴🔵 next the white circle).
TEXTURES
this one is simple, just add any textures you have downloaded: lightleaks, film dust, bokeh, frames, noise, png images, or vignette. make sure the texture you've added is at Lighten for it to work! (or at Lighter Color if it was a bokeh texture) lower the opacity, erase some spots, or combine the layers together if you want! It's a fun process!
LASTLY,
last step my people, use the Sharpen tool under the Adjustment panel, toggle it to yer likin, and YIPPEE!!! here's the result:
*better view at desktop mode to see the minimal difference while switching between the B/A*
AAHHHH please give me some tips for working with relight cause your work is amazing
HEYHEYHEY!!! AHH dude thank you for likin my stuff genuine :( like im still my own student of my own teacher lol BUT dw i gotcha ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )
★ imma drop lil tricks or tips that helped me achieved BIG COLORFUL lightings lately:
QUINT RELIGHT 3 simple rules with our friend relight:
use relight on only dark rooms (or just any area that are less flashy lighting ingame)
dont be afraid to mess around with the Position in relight (especially the third slot!) because of it-it can make yer lighting WIDE.
always make sure the Saturation settings in relight at MAX
ULTIMATE RELIGHT as for this one, im actually still tying to understand it fully, it is easier more than qUINT relight regardless! i used to learn it better from @virsancte 's tutorial (VERY GOATED truly the magician of relight XD) so, the same as the relight rules, I also make sure the Intensity of it is at MAX too.
LIGHTROOM
i did mention i tweak my lightroom settings all the time, try adjusting any needed colors and add more saturation if you want!
i make sure my qUINT relight shader is above, while the ultimate relight is beneath.
make sure any Bloom settings is under the qUINT relight because it does have a blinding glare especially if ya have your bloom settings at high :p
now, in curve settings of lightroom, reducing the White levels & Exposure tools does pops up the relight lightings!
Midtones is also a nice touch to your sims who have the relight lights casting on them, tweak it till you find it good enough. (while adjusting the midtones try editing the highlight settings too!)
TENT
idk maybe its just me, but i feel the tent shaders does have a nice effect with relight lighting, i always contrast the color of the tent to my choice of the lighting color of relight.
for example: blue/green tent → red/pink relight lighting, does have a nice touch! yellow is superior i always love mixing it with red hues like on this: (the difference is crazy)
also place the tent shader above relight!
not tent related, but the try using the Chromatic Aberration [CA] shader with relight, it has been officially my favorite use since forever skdjsj
how do you light your dark skin sims with your preset? i have it too but i can't figure out how to light them better
hey3x
★ ngl, i still tweak my preset ALOT when it comes to this, in my gshade the Lightroom & Levels shaders settings get change inconsistently:
*the highlighted ones get tweaked alot*
☆ EVEN BETTER IN-GAME LIGHTING MOD by nsw is the best for me atm, i use the bright version.
★ relight does help to make some skin texture visible, try to utilize it well!
☆ idk if thats count, but since switching to dx11 in the sims 4, i feel it improved the quality of the lighting to me, yet, not sure if this a thing- i might be tripping AH.
★ EDITED: very little details but i like using ingame makeup highlight on my dark skinned sims, i recommend these!
HI!! I hope all is well! I have two questions, if you don't mind 👉👈
Could I ask what are the fonts you used here (the San Myshuno City font & the font used in the Sim dialogue... I have an obsession with fonts right now)
How the hell do you get Relight to behave properly 😭 Your screenshots are so full of color and jaw-dropping, I love them so much. I've been experimenting, wanting to try the same thing, since it's something I've always wanted to do. However, when I set up the lights, they look fine, until I press tab and then Z to zoom all the way in, then the lights move closer to my Sim and become bright as hell. If I move my cursor, it'll move the camera with it even with the GShade menu open, is there a way to get the camera to stop moving when I move my cursor so that I can mess with my GShade settings and see what I'm doing, or do I just have to wing it
HEYHEYHEY sure friend! always feel free to ask me stuff (ദ്ദി˙ᗜ˙)
the fonts are these i assume ya mean! they are from Dafont website–honestly i download all of my fonts from there THE BEST PLACE EVER
ahh relight my friend aka also my greatest enemy in light environment sjsjsjkk i genuinely wanted to show you ingame but i wasnt sure if it would be easy to see or nah BUT first thank you for the compliment AHH🧎ngl relight is very inconsistent like i do sometimes hate the angle i set and the exposure of the light and try to change it more more, how i take my screanshot with relight i always go ALL IN with zoom from the start tbh, move my camera to the back too and adjust it, and sometimes rarely i take it far w/o zooming, really all you need to set your camera angle then add your light at last. yes i get what you mean with the opening the GShade menu and the screen just GO CRAZYY n ruin yer lighting setup been there n still sksjs what i suggest is set up your scene before adding relight, and while you open up the main menu to play with other shaders, try making yer mouse arrow visible so the camera angle stay still (by clicking on the screen) this i believe the way it make your camera unmoveable.
★ also if you by chance use SRWE < this program will always mess up yer relight lighting placement if you chooses to crop it 3000x3000 (square) or 2400x1800 (4:3) if you still want to use these layouts, you reallyyyy need a specific placement to make relight happen (usually is like, setting the lights source toggle faaar from your original placement ITS TOO MUCH I KNOW😭)
but recently i have been just setting it up to my screen length format which i recommend for everyone to do so, and make it a nice quality and you all set!
hi!! do you mind sharing your settings for the reshade you use? I love how relight looks in your game and I just want to figure out how to make it more bright and colorful like that!
heyheyhey!!! sure XD i use gshade but ig there wont be much of differences? but yippee there you go:
the one w the purple highlight get tweaks ALOT! esp the the Curves, Lightroom (to balance some minor colors or just to make my pics darker/lighter), SSR (rare uses but! its for scenery pics or far scenes too), Tint (is so good cuz sometimes i be having a yellowish pics and i can make it feel blue or red w/o messin my Lightroom settings), and Relight!
+ OOP another shader i use is ArtisticVignette is so good i feel its makes yer pics so cinematic in a way!
Heya!! Just a little question, do you know how you get your images to be so crispy?! I tried using SWRE but I can’t get that *crisp* look I want☹️ I’ve heard of relight also but I don’t know where to get it and how to use it with gshade!
HEY!!! de i gotcha anon! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
★ when it comes for SRWE i set it to these three profiles mostly:
theres these profiles when i want a wide screen take, the last one i use it for a HQ screenshot! (another tip, i always make sure to run the srwe with a normal quality first like 3000x2000 then in the same time before hitting the 'Taskbar mode' i click the HQ one 5000x2000 for example!) welp this is just me because sometimes it crashes on me lol
★ I recently been using the app procreate for adjusting any minor color or stuff- and i do use their sharpening tool as well.
★ since i use gshade, these shaders might help you for more crisp quality! its alot i know lol but i recommend toggling on/off 'Contrast Limited Sharpening' to your likin tho- for me when its a daylight or bright area scene i turn it off sometimes!
★ as for our friend re smth smth light lol, if ya want it get it here RUNNINGG-
