Daily MCO Drink #217, MCO Day #219: IRISH MAID, made with 2 parts Jameson Irish Whiskey, 1 part Giffard Elderflower Liqueur, 1/2 part simple syrup, 3/4 part lemon juice, muddled cucumber, all shaken over ice and strained over fresh ice. . Today’s cocktail is brought to you by the humble cucumber, which I had extra of after the Hendrick’s Ginsonic the other day. . There are a few ‘Maid’ drinks around: the Old Maid has a gin base, the Kentucky Maid is bourbon. I adapted this one from a recipe on Difford’s Guide. . I reckon I might have overpoured the Elderflower here: it’s quite prominent, overpowering even the lemon. Daily MCO Drink #18, MCO Day No.19: Rob Roy, using one part Johnnie Walker Black Label The Director’s Cut, 1/2 part Mancino Rosso and 1/2 part Mancino Bianco vermouths, and a dash of Angostura Bitters, stirred with ice and strained into a chilled glass. . A Rob Roy is actually a Manhattan, but with Scotch instead of rye whiskey. I wanted to use a standard Black Label for this, but decided to use the Director’s Cut instead to see what it would taste like. .
