Stone: *Looks up* 12 HOURS?

Fox: I'll be fine, the shinies needed the extra rest.

Thire: Forcefully taking all of their shifts and sending them to bed is one way to achieve that I suppose...

Thorn: Not good enough, we're forcefully taking over now.

Fox dropped his head into his hands. This wasn’t the post he wanted when they first got their assignments. All his batchmates were out fighting and he was assigned to paperwork and babysitting duty.

If he had to suffer through one more stuffy senator meeting he was going to scream.

“Commander.” Two sharp raps made him pick his head up.

“Yes, trooper.” Fox looked up and met the gaze of one of his brothers.

“Commander Thire is reporting in from the field, Sir. I thought you would like to speak with him.” The younger brother gave a salute and vanished down the hall.

Fox rose from his seat and headed for the communications room. Thire was from a younger command class. Fox had come to see him as a younger brother. Maybe not the way Cody saw Rex but still close.

Fox accepted the comm call. He sighed in relief when he saw that Thire was only mildly injured. Thire and a squad of the guard had gone with General Yoda on a mission. Fox would never admit it but he was worried about his fellow commander.

“Glad to see you alive.” Fox greeted.

“Just calling to check in. General Yoda has managed to complete his mission and we are en route back to Coruscant.” Thire was too observant for his own good. “How are you, vod? Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?”

“Not much. Just the usual.” Fox leaned against the comm table.

Thire nodded. “Senator Taa again?”

“If I have to make one more food run for his meetings someone might get hurt.” Fox rubbed his temples. “I’m glad you are okay.”

Thire didn’t remark on Fox’s admission. “We will be back in two days. Hang in there vod.”

Thire cut the connection and Fox smiled.
