Tumblr Arguments

Oh my god. I rarely check my tumblr but today I have never seen so much racism and human rights bs just clouding up my dash before. Posts on how PoC shouldn't be friends with white people because of the shit they start?? I've grown up with the closest people to me being so many different European races. Italians, Canadians, Irish ext. and we do make racist jokes to each other because yes I'm a short Puerto Rican surrounded by tall white girls and guys and I look silly following them around town. But not once have I ever been put in a situation where someone blamed me for something because of skin color. Not once have I been denied a service of some sort or have my friends. In fact my only ever issue has been people against teenagers, homosexuality, and stereotypes. So let me set my personal experience record straight with any assumptions people have made toward me: - not all tan people are Mexican. - not all Hispanics naturally speak Spanish or have even touched a taco or tamalė in their life. - not all lesbians have short hair. - not all lesbians want to be men. - if someone enjoys exploring a culture and tries their food/clothes/ext. they aren't being racist. - wearing all black and skulls doesn't make someone "emo". - goths aren't satanic & neither is anyone who doesn't go to church. - not all people want to be married or have sex, and their mind doesn't always change after they date someone. - and just because you're white doesn't give you "white privilege" all the time. Some places can just as easily have "black privilege" or "Spanish privilege". Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, is vulnerable to different mistakes, assumptions, and hypocrisy. Yes, white people make mistakes. But so does every other color of a person out there. Whether someone was shot or arrested for being black or white. We're all driven by a fear of another person. We're all human, we're all monsters.
