Don Magnifico, Clorinda, e Tisbe

It’s not just the fairy godmother who’s been switched about in this operatic Cinderella; the wicked stepmother has also been exchanged for the blustering, bullying stepfather Don Magnifico. He dreams of glory and wealth and - bizarrely - a winged donkey landing atop a tolling bell tower. This ridiculous dream might indeed be a portent of wedding bells between the prince and one of the girls in his house, but he’s probably mistaken in thinking that the viperish Clorinda and Tisbe could set aside their rivalry for five minutes to secure him some grandchildren. But he is definitely an ass.

Don Magnifico is a Bergamasco sheepdog, Clorinda a Papillon, and Tisbe a Phalene.
