Abandoned outside a fire station before he hit three years old after being born to a couple of kids that couldn’t handle being parents any more
Had some health issues, and wasn’t viewed as ‘adoptable’ so spent a lot of time in hospitals and group homes for the next few years of his life
At the age of six he got his first taste of family and a home when a couple took him in
Soon realized they only did so for the money they were being paid to look after him
Was dumped back into the system when he started getting sick again
Bounced around group homes, primarily until he was twelve when a couple who had a kid and adopted another were looking to add another child to their family
He had been living with them for almost two years when he woke up to the smell of smoke and the sound of the fire alarm; got his two foster siblings out and was about to try and get his foster parents out when a backdraft sent him to the ground
The adoption had been a week from finalization, but since it was never completed, he was separated from his foster siblings and put back into the system, bouncing from group home to group home until he aged out
Took on his almost-adoptive family’s last name once he was legally old enough to change his name
Wound up living on the streets for another couple of years in Scotland before he found his way to London
Was still living on the streets when he yanked an unconscious women out of a burning car that had been driven off the road by a drunk driver
The car exploded after he got her out, and he hit his head, knocking him unconscious, but woke up to discover firefighters putting out the firefighter and treating both his and her injuries
Decided he was going to try his hardest to turn his life around and become one of the people who had rescued him on more than one occasion
It took him a while to turn his situation a while but he’s finally got his life together enough that he’s now working as a paramedic, the first step towards becoming a firefighter
