too much distance... || closed starter for @moonsrush
Kay sat down on the floor, resting his back against the main door of his best friend's place. The weather was still cold; winter had a firm grip on that part of the world. Exhaustion was creeping in. He was not only mentally and physically drained after performing abroad and flying back home that day, but the jet lag had also disrupted his entire sleeping schedule. However, this was his only option left to finally figure out what was wrong with Daphne.
Reaching out to him had become increasingly difficult. Initially, he received slower replies to his messages, followed by several unanswered calls. Harsh words and distant conversations became more common in the last few weeks, but only when he wasn’t ignored completely. This situation was affecting his daily life more than he cared to admit; it distracted him and created an uneasy feeling that was hard to shake off.
He pulled the hood of his sweatshirt over his head, and a face mask covered half of his face. As his messages and calls proved futile in reaching the other man, his only option was to wait. Just wait.
It didn’t take long for him to fall asleep, both hands gripping his phone, his head drooping to the side and resting against the door frame. Kay was unaware of how long he had been in dreamland—probably a couple of hours—but when a hand touched his shoulder, he woke up, startled and alert. "Daphne?" he asked, his voice more a plea than a question. His sense of space and time felt completely altered as he fully awoke and stood up.
