Mathis made a big mistake

Nate: Hey Jace, what the hell is this?

Jace (sees that Nate got doxxed): GOD DAMNIT I'LL HANDLE THIS STUPID STUPID STUPID

Mathis: GET DOXXED IDIOT HA HA HA HA

Jace: Hey idiot

Mathis: *looks at his computer screen*

(Jace appears on Mathis's computer screen with his IP address)

Mathis (screaming): SHIT *throws his computer out the window*

Swap AU make my pea-sized brain ping around my head like one of those brick breaker games.

Mathis was on a flight to Great Bear to visit his son in prison. He booked a flight with Archer Remote Transport, flying with a serious woman named Molly who doesn’t seem to particularly like him. Their plane goes down, and he finds himself in a quiet apocalypse.

Molly is a pilot who hunts in her spare time. After her husband died in mysterious circumstances, she’s generally regarded with suspicion by the people around her, and it weighs heavily on her.

Astrid is a doctor in the small town of Thompson’s Crossing. Shes taken over the community centre as a clinic. She would go out and search for crash survivors, but the people here need all her attention.

Mackenzie is a convict who recently got transferred to Blackrock. After one of his guys, a stern man named Jeremiah, got sent here, he got himself sent up to break him out. By the time he reached the prison, that had already happened, so he started searching the island for someone who could get them off it.

Heller takes Jeremiah’s position almost exactly.

Jace takes Methuselah’s position, but isn’t quite as cryptic about it and instead speaks in scientific terms that leave Mathis like “please have mercy I got a C in high school physics”.

Lilith Barker takes Jace’s place, ensuring that Donner doesn’t escape. She was climbing Blackrock mountain when the first flare happened, and when she saw from above what was happening, she rushed down to try to help.

Vachon takes Hobbs’s place but isn’t as obviously dead meat after his cutscene though. Hobbs is the guy who they mentioned got shot with arrows (who is Leclerc in canon).

Mackenzie, in spite of being a convict, isn’t actually a bad guy. He’s exceedingly practical, but he cares for his people, and when he learns Mathis is trying to get to Blackrock, he immediately agrees to help him. Then a faction conflict happens in Blackrock because some dudes are like “hey fuck you and fuck this guy from solitary you’re not the boss of me”. So Mackenzie wrestles with that and keeps them in line while Mathis goes to do all the quests.

The warden and Father Thomas sort of swap places except the warden ends up more in Molly’s position. He went off the deep end a bit with the fire and brimstone and most people stopped attending his services, which he resents them for. He kills the convicts because “it’s the will of the Lord”. Just fully cuckoo bananas with the religion.

Grey Mother is Mackenzie’s other henchman because I think epic gun grandma should get to commit crime and also hang out with Mackenzie more. It’s part of why in this AU, Donner does actually escape; because Lily gets distracted by her mom being there.

Methuselah goes where Grey Mother does. He has the player go look for buffer memories instead so they can write down the story of Milton because he doesn’t want it to die. They need to go to the farmhouse to get the key to the office, not the lockbox.

Father Thomas isn’t locked up (because in this AU, the convicts didn’t murder everyone bc the staff weren’t as horrible to them) but he is completely useless in sorting out the conflict in the prison. Just like “oh no, please don’t— oh no you’re doing it anyways :(“

I may think about the convicts a lot but I am also very much always thinking about my girl Jace and how insanely smart she has to be to have figured out the controls for the prison remotely. How terrifying it must have been for her to stumble through the night of the first flare, probably being chased by aurora timberwolves, and thinking she’s found shelter and safety only to witness a massacre and be unable to do anything about it. How she decided that it was better to stay and prevent these monsters from hurting anyone else than to keep going towards her destination. What was her plan? To stay there, hunkered down wherever she was until the convicts died? Or did she decide that if she was going to die that she would at least slow these motherfuckers down? Anyways she is literally the character of all time. I love you Jace.

The interrogation (Holding out for a hero and Not alone after all crossover skit)

Jace: You know that really does not help your case here that you won't tell us where Mathis is hiding Norberrt so

Stoney: I'll get the gremlin

Heller: hah there's no way I'll spill the beans

Jace: Just saying that if you don't cough up the information then your screwed man, do you even know what we call him the winged holy terror

(Jace leaves the room and then we see a winged kid come in)

Gregory: Hi punk welcome to your worst nightmare

Heller: Look I don't know what they told you but I am not gonna tell you anything about where Norberrt is hidden

Gregory: I break bones and laugh

Heller: You can't do anything you're just a winged kid

Stoney: He's what we call a wee winged demon we don't control him

Gregory (picks up a phone): Hello

Heller: Who are you calling?

Gregory: Hi hell I have someone coming to you *proceeds to hit Heller with the landline phone*

Heller: OW SHIT

Jace (makes her glasses fall off her face): Oh, look at that I'm blind I can't see anything

Gregory: Are you gonna talk

Heller: No

Gregory: Okay then you asked for it *pulls out a phonebook*

Heller: Wait what are going to do with that phone book *Gregory then beats the shit out of Heller with the phonebook until he decides to talk* ALRIGHT I'LL TALK THEY'RE HIDING HIM IN THE MINES

Gregory: There was that so hard *leaves the room with Stoney*

Preview for the next chapter of holding out for a hero

Mavis laid out the blueprints for the rescue plan to save Norberrt. "So, since we do not have the information on where these monsters are keeping Norberrt hostage this will call for some good old espionage if you catch my drift" Mavis said. Every nodded however one person seemed to be confused about all this "Mavis" Jace asked "not a lot of us are sneaky and one wrong move could give up our location and it will be all good for nothing" She continued with.

"That's where I come in" Squeaked a small lizardman getting everyone's attention everyone looked around before hearing a sigh "Down here" the voice said everyone looked to see Patchy on standing on the blueprints.

Jace might have recalled seeing this lizardman earlier when Nate sent him to find Aarodilya but couldn't quite remember his name. "Oh sorry there I did not see you there" Jace said to which Patchy chuckled "No need for the apologies it happens all the time because over time it became increasingly obvious, and I could deny it no longer I am small" Patchy sent a wink at Jace.

Jace then asked "I don't think I got your name earlier. Who are you?" Patchy responded with "Patchy is my name but some people call me Patches whichever one works for you is fine"
