Event #001 (Fin)

As the colonists race to safety, they find themselves, for the most part, empty handed. Little evidence remains, and much is left back in the now unstable and dangerous cave system. Orders have been given to return back to base, and, weary, the crew does so.

This concludes our first event! Threads from the event may be continued and completed, but no new ones should be created. At this point, characters are free to explore the aftermath and however they deal with it, along with the transition to everyday life. Cheers!

Closed In || OPEN

Joanna walked down the tunnel as quiet as she could. The hologram  figure had gone this way. The tracker had picked up on it and never stopped beeping but was now at a steady pace. According the readings it was moving just ahead of her. As if it was leading her.

The beeping stopped.

Joanna found what seemed to be a door entrance and a rather large one at that, but this one looked as if it had been blown apart. She flashed her light into the darkness only for her light to be reflected back. Jo tightened her grip.

She took a step forward, prepared to go in, but stopped when Sam’s voice decided to take on the form of her conscious.She sighed and decided to take precautions, just to be safe.  Jo grabbed her walkie and clicked to connect with the rest of security. “This is Joanna Beech. I’ve have found what appears to be a door entrance. Direction of hologram figure. I have sent in my coordinates. I will be going in.”

Joanna took in a deep breath, kept her flashlight straight ahead and entered the tunnel. Her light bounced off the walls. It shimmered and danced as she walked deeper. It was relaxing and calming, Her body felt heavier. Joanna shook her head and kept walking. Her movements still sluggish and her breaths shorter.

Jo dropped her flashlight in surprise.

The ground was shaking again. This time she couldn't keep her balance.

Event #001 (Ctd)

The blips have faded in an out for hours now, and in an effort to find the source of them, the colonists have split into smaller groups and spread out. With little organization, the colonists have free reign, and one of the anonymous engineers brought along gets a little too curious. A few touches of the symbols on the wall, and suddenly all the corridors everywhere are lit up with a strange blue light.

Soon, the colonists begin to see images projected by the light – holograms of humanoid, male figures that run through the halls and deeper into the structure. Before any of the colonists can attempt to follow, though, the images fade away and a deep rumbling appears. Whatever triggered the images seems to have disrupted the fragile balance of the structure, and it’s clear that cave-ins are imminent.

Emergency alerts are issued, and colonists are to evacuate the structure and get back to the vehicles as soon as possible – there is no time to grab anything that they don’t already have, and some equipment, discoveries, and other things will be forced to be left behind in the pursuit of both brevity and survival.

Interactions from this plot drop can take place concerning any of the events listed above. Colonists will be restricted to carrying only small items, and larger things will absolutely need to be left behind, no questions asked. Therefore, much of the evidence (collected and destroyed) will not be able to be brought back. Once cave-ins start to occur, they will also need to get out of the structure as quickly as they can. Remember to tag paras with tlfevent1, and hope you enjoy the final act of this event. Happy roleplaying!

Event #001 (Ctd)

As the colonists delve deeper into the mysterious structure, tension rises. The eeriness is palpable, the darkness all encompassing. As creepy as it may seem, though, nothing living or dangerous seems to be around, and the scientists finally begin to set up their equipment for a preliminary scan and readings of the place. Distracted, no one notices the activity on the motion trackers at first – blips of activity not too far off. It isn’t until the beeping alerts someone that the colonists are aware of something. It could be the equipment going haywire, and it could be something out there, but now the group faces a decision – leave now while their safety is assured, or continue even further into the deep.

At this point, colonists are free to notice the activity on the motion trackers. The motion trackers would indicate substantial figures, yet, as the prompt says, it isn’t clear whether it’s actually something out there or simply a glitch in the machine - if it is something, it hasn't and won't reveal itself yet. Characters are free to react as they will, and groups may begin to fracture or split off from one another at this point. Remember to track and use the tag tlfevent1 for this, and happy RP’ing!

Into The Deep || Owen & [OPEN]

This is it - this was really it. The crew had managed to find something big, and for real this time. Owen could hardly believe how...awe-inspiring the structure had been, even if he couldn't tell what it was. A small part of him found himself wishing that Tammy had come along. She would've loved to see the building, and perhaps she could've offered some insight as to what it actually was. Questions floated through his mind like fireflies against the night sky, and he, unlike some of the others, remained silent as he followed one of the security personnel inside.

He could hear his own breathing from inside the suit, and as they entered, there was a brief moment before they turned on their flashlights when the group was shrouded in thick, unbreakable darkness. Owen felt himself want to drift off into the feeling of pure, dreaded isolation, though within a moment someone flicked their light on and chatter resumed. The initial cavern was huge, and a quick glance around revealed doorways spread everywhere.

Definitely not manmade, huh.

Dammit.

Owen could no longer hope that he would be able to pretend that this was all normal, as it clearly wasn't. Shifting, he turned on his own flashlight and took a hesitant step forward, though he lingered near the back of the group. After a moment, he noticed someone standing near him. Owen tried to dispel the anxiety that tensed his shoulders as he smiled.

"It's, uh...really something, huh?"

EVENT #001 – Field Expedition!

“…It’s been brought to our attention that a structure, previously undetectable because of the high winds surrounding the mountain ranges to the west, lies unexplored. Preliminary scans indicate that the structure, which lies in a valley, is hollow and dotted with corridors and caves. This is a huge find, and although we’re very excited, we must scout it out first to determine the exact nature of the structure and assess it’s security. As such, a large team will be sent out on a preliminary research mission. We urge colonists to remember that although this is a major find, it is also completely unknown, and under no circumstances are crew members to wander off alone or disobey orders from any of the team leaders. Further instructions will be issued soon, but for now, the current roster is as follows:

Security Team – Diane Mercer, Skylar Sarai, Samuel Larson, Lachlan Greene, Laila Lanka, Petra Knight, Joanna Beech, Roman Velasquez, Church

Science Team – Jerome Kirby, Madison Ruiz, Elizabeth Chase, Raoul Ferguson, Trinity

We will embark tomorrow, so prepare accordingly – remember that this is only a preliminary mission, so pack light and only bring what’s necessary. See you bright and early, colonists!”

Welcome to our first event! The field expedition will last from Sunday, January 12 to Monday, January 20. The colonists will prepare for the expedition Jan 12th, and the crew will formally embark on Jan 13th. Further plot drops will be issued throughout the week, so keep an eye out for them soon.
