Does anyone else think there were more critics against the Guard in the show than they let on? Like, not in the sense like they're hypocrites for not letting other predators eat their fill (overhunting mostly aside).
But in the sense that the previous Leader of the Lion Guard murdered his team and sent the Pridelands into famine/ruin after taking the throne. Herds had to migrate elsewhere for safety and had to rely on themselves more for defense and protection. Then Simba took over to restore balance again and reunite everyone. And given that Scar was a little older than Kion's age in season 3 when he lost the Roar [let's say in his early 20s maybe?], this was all probably at least 3 or 4 decades without the Lion Guard.
So it would be less of the "How can you call yourselves defenders of Circle of Life when you literally prevent us from eating?!" ordeal, and more of a "The previous Leader of the Lion Guard sent our home into chaos and our lives into ruin. We've had to rely on only ourselves for decades before you five were even born. We didn't need you then. What makes you think that we possibly need you now?"
