My Thoughts on the Lego TLJ Spoilers from Yesterday

I love Lego and those new Star Wars TLJ Lego sets give some potential plot spoilers. My thoughts on this and Reylo are below the cut as well as pics.

Don’t look below the cut if you don’t want to see Last Jedi spoilers!

1. The new First Order Walker

So we saw in the teaser trailer that the Walkers are attacking a new world called Krait -something or other (I forget the full name). This walker is a new design and I like it! The body is larger. The key thing for me about this set is Rey is included. She is in her new outfit, with hair down. So it looks like she is leaving Ahch-To at some point and joining up with the resistance to help with the battle. She can be seen on the ground in the battle with her lightsaber, so perhaps she uses it to take out some of those walkers!

Also hello “Captain” Poe Dameron! Looks like he is promoted during the course of TLJ. On the other set he is just called “Poe Dameron”

I am inclined to believe from the Rey and Captain Poe outfits, that the battle with the walkers takes place towards the end of the movie.

The resistance trooper is the same one included in the TFA Lego sets, so I am guessing the battle is going to involve a lot of standard resistance guys who are going to be cannon fodder for those walkers ^_^ The same is true for the First Order Stormtroopers.

The First Order walker driver has his own stormtrooper outfit that has a cool stripe on the helmet. Niiiice!

Reylo Thoughts: There is no Kylo in this set, so I think that he is not fighting either with or against the resistance in this battle. Could Rey have fled Ahch-To without Kylo? No Luke Skywalker either hmmmmmmmm

2. The New Star Destroyer

Wow, I can’t wait to build this!

It looks like this could be the biggest Star Destroyer we’ve seen in SW and it is going to be shooting green turbolasers aplenty judging by the pic. It is also has smaller destroyers surrounding it and so I am guessing this is the battle we see in the teaser trailer with the resistance fleet.

Snoke lives on this star destroyer it seems, because he is part of the set. He is wearing a yellow robe which ties in with the more “bling” Snoke that MSW has discussed in the past on it’s spoiler site. Open neck on the robe! Also Snoke’s head ties in with the same Snoke head we see in the Lego TFA Star Wars game, so it seems that Snoke has not had any surgery  to improve his scarred looks. Looks like he might be directing the battle with the resistance personally! All I can say is yaaaaaaaas!

Lookey here it’s an evil BB unit. Why do I feel he and BB8 will have a duel of some sort. Kind of like Chopper and his Empire nemesis in Star Wars Rebels.

The Stormtroopers included look like those in my TFA Lego sets, so again more cannon fodder for the Resistance to take out. The First Order Officer was also a stand alone special figure from the TFA series

I think that shuttle pilot is new though. I am guessing we are going to see some First Order shuttles floating about in TLJ. I’m betting bling Snoke does not pilot his own shuttle!

Reylo Thoughts: No Kylo on this Star Destroyer set either. Again I feel the space battle occurs toward the middle or end of TLJ. I think Kylo may be on board at the start of the movie, but soon leaves to find Rey and Luke on Ahch-To. I think this bodes well for Reylo because Kylo’s scenes are probabaly going to be mostly with Rey.

The new Resistance Bomber

This looks like those resistance ships we saw in the teaser trailer and I think they will be fighting Snoke’s star destroyer and First Order fleet.

Poe is in his orange flight suit, so could this be the scene where we see him running in the teaser trailer? He is not called Captain here as in the other set. 

Resistance Fighter Paige is Rose Tico’s sister and she is a gunner. In fact you can see her in the gunner’s seat on the box picture. It’s been rumoured she is in Poe’s squad. Is she more than just a colleague though *wink*

Wow look at Vice Admiral Holdo. We saw this pink-haired lady in the Vanity Fair shoot in a stylish pink dress, but here she appears to be in a grey outfit. Looks like she is going to be part of the fight, because she has a blaster!

The resistance bomber pilot and bombardier are new and I guess will pilot the smaller ships we see in the teaser trailer.

Reylo Thoughts: I don’t see Kylo or Rey having any part in the ship to ship battle. This is good because it means they’ll be busy elsewhere.

Is it wrong to see Rose and Finn as just friends?

Hey there, Mod Em here. In my view, not at all. As of the end of  TLJ, all we have to go on is that Rose has feelings for Finn, and Finn feels a growing friendship for Rose. I wouldn’t even say they were honestly “friends” until fairly late in the movie. Their dynamic was more “I’m stuck with working with you, so let’s just get on with it” for much of the time. It is a very different dynamic from the obvious, and mutual, romantic attraction Finn and Rey displayed toward each other in TFA, and in their hug in TLJ.

People (i.e. reylos) who accuse others who are not into Finnrose of being racist, or anti-Asian, or anything of that sort are talking out of their asses unless the person in question is actively stating that Rose is unacceptable as a love interest simply because she is not white. Many of us Finnreys who were excited for Rose are WOC ourselves, and quite a few of us were fully prepared to be Finnreyrose multishippers before actually seeing what Rian Johnson made of their dynamic in the movie.

That said, there is nothing wrong per se with shipping Finnrose, particularly if you’re erasing the nasty dynamic that was set up between them in canon and replacing it with the mutual trust, respect and affection that Kelly and John have for each other in real life. A lot of us hope that JJ will do Kelly Marie Tran and Rose justice in IX.

But no, there is nothing at all wrong with seeing Finn and Rose’s interactions as only platonic.
