steven yeun voicing adult zuko?
keith and zuko having the same voice actor?
they are NOT beating the “same person different universe” allegations 😔
Ok i have now watched the new Avatar movie.
And i really enjoyed it.
It was a good story set between the 100 year war and Korra's era which didn't ruin any of the characters. It added lore and world building, and actually looked at and addressed some of the things that would be weighing on Aang's mind once the dust from the war settled. It didnt feel trapped by having to fit with the established canon of Korra and in fact it did a good job of setting up/establishing some of the things that are canon by the time LoK rolls around. And I vastly preferred the characters that our favs were in this over who they were retroactively turned into in LoK (cop-Toph, bad-dad-Aang, dead-Sokka, etc). They were still themselves in this movie, just, slightly more grown up versions of themselves.
And yeah, some of the scene transitions were a liiiiiiiitle choppy, and i do not know where my girl Suki was at for the whole film, but aside from that.... it was a good movie. A solid follow on to AtLA as a series. A fun time that gave us more time with our favs and lets us see beefed up Toph and Zuko, gave us more in-world knowledge and depth...... yeah. I liked it a lot. Is it perfect? No. But was it good? Yeah. And honestly who knows, maybe the minor choppiness between scene changes is one of the things that will be smoothed out during the finishing touches.
I would absolutely pay money to see it again if it were in cinemas -- multiple times, probably -- and Paramount are fucking stupid for deciding to go straight to streaming with it. I'm not planning to get Paramount for its release --- but I was NEVER planning to get paramount for it. The only way Paramount is getting money out of me for this movie is if they do a cinematic release and/or a physical DVD or BluRay.
And i mean. Its not too late. I would support a tenth-hour pivot back to the big screen. @ Paramount are you listening to me
