I have a lot of feelings about Korra in season 2. I think that everyone in that season acted really badly, and she was on the receiving end of some very poor framing of her emotional turmoil and actions, that led to her being framed as sort of crazy or irrational and "mean," especially by the fandom.
And also. I think her responses to the situations she faced around her uncle textually grooming her and the dismissiveness she was treated with from others were very realistic trauma responses, and I think that it was actually a much better, rawer portrayal of her trauma and mental illness than season 4 ever was, which wrapped her arc with the absolutely disastrous lesson of " I needed to understand what true suffering was so I could be more compassionate to others, even to people like Kuvira." (<directly from the transcript) which retroactively framed Korra as uncompassionate before her suffering, which she had to undergo in order to "learn" which is just completely untrue.
I stand very very alone in this opinion, but season 2's Korra resonated far, far more to me than season 4 did, and I think the people that try to defend Korra by claiming that well of course she was terrible and awful and bratty and arrogant and spoiled in the first 2-3 seasons but she was great in season 4!! she grew so much!! -- do not really understand realistic responses to trauma, or actually love Korra as the teenage girl that she was.
