The boy's Hufflepuff dormitory was buzzing with excitement, yellow and black streamers hung over the ceiling beams as a ranged of eleven to eighteen year old young men hovered over the mirrors fixing their dress robes, ties, or hair. Reginald Cattermole stood in front of his own mirror by his bed side running a hand over the front of his dress robes. The seventeen year old smiled to himself, happy that he finally got a break from his midterm exams even if it was going to his school's dance. Not that there was anything wrong with going to a school dance at all but Reginald wasn't the most elegant on his feet. He had only decided to go to meet up with his friends and see them all in their fancy dress. He didn't have any plans on asking anyone to dance with him in fear of them ending up in the Hospital Wing. He had decided earlier on that he was going to find his place in a corner and drink his punch quietly with a smug look on his face because this was probably the best dressed Reginald was ever going to be.
Reginald bleamed at himself, now smoothing out his own hair before playfully winking at his reflection and giving himself a thumbs up. He had actually looked really good and he was excited about it. Reg remembered buying the dress robes with his mother, who called all the sale assoicates over to admire her handsome son. It was really embarassing at the time but it was certainly a boost in confidence, even if it was from his mother.
The dormitory was starting to dispurse as the young men started making their way to the Great Hall. With a last soft sight, Reginald pushed his wand inside his dress robes pocket and followed the other boys out into the Common Room. He waved to a few of his house mates who had decided to stay in that evening. He walked passed the kitchens and towards the Great Hall, a swarm of students surrounding him as he followed the herd into the Christmas themed room.
The Great Hall was fully decorated from ceiling to the floor! White twinkling lights, sugar plum fairies flying around, and the smell of pine in the air. It was exhausting Reginald's eye trying to follow the decorations around the room. And the girls! They had all dressed up and cleaned up extremely well. Reginald couldn't help but stare at all the lovely ladies giggling and beaming with excitement of the dance. Reginald started making his way through the room, his head turning in every direction due to the sparkles in his eyes. He reached the food table, grabbing a caludron cake and a cup of pumpkin juice. Taking a bite, he waited in his newly found corner for his friends to arrive.
