like. that's a pretty big level of avoidance. like this is textual i'm not just noticing the statement similarities he is canonically shaken by it.
and then you look at the statement itself? and it's about a self proclaimed bad kid who did not have parents in the picture talking about an incident there is no official record of, where he is puppeted into opening a door to a room full of spiders that have already taken other people he knows, and he is only saved by being painfully freed from this compulsion at the very last second?
like. yeah good luck not thinking about spiders more than professionally required after that one. as the episode says, "I try to think that I’ve left my past behind, but that sort of denial doesn’t help me sleep."
