i’ve gotten super into TMA recently! it took me a while to get really hooked but i quickly fell in love with these two idiots. so! i had to draw them as dragons. i made the designs in collab with my friend @mae-peachie !!

very good horror trope is when someone winds up in front of a fucked up and evil audience to experience untold horrors and every time they visibly suffer more there's a roar of disembodied laughter. yessss represent the feeling of being helpless in your suffering and receiving apathy from the world through surrealism about unwilling performance.

my problem is i think every character concept can be improved by making them a little nonbinary. this has created a comically unrealistic concentration of People With A Weird Gender Thing Going On in my stories and i will not be stopping any time soon. im genders georg.

looking at the wiki page for 162 a cosy cabin and who suggested it might be the buried??? like yes the page does also list the corruption and the lonely, and being unbound which i agree with on the basis that it's playing with the intertwining themes of both entities, but why is the buried also there. who invited it. idk how much more blatant the line "It is a rotten sanctuary of lonely companionship" can be in which fears it's evoking.

i think i would be less bothered if the buried was at least listed below corruption. like please look at the language used here. moldy treasure, withers and warps, rotten. putrefy!

if i had to list anything it would be the corruption first like hello??

and then in that first line listed the not feeling the warmth of love is pretty strongly lonely too. i like the cabin because it's plays with the contrast and overlap in themes these two entities have around relationships.

trying to figure out where even we are bringing the buried into this pretty tight thematic meshing of the lonely and corruption.

is it the line about being “so close that refuge sometimes feels a prison”?? because the page says it's related to feeling trapped which is not buried exclusive especially not metaphorically. look at 150 cul-de-sac, it literally has trapped in the description.

and the rest of the line is not being heard despite that closeness. blatant lonely themes of feeling alone despite company yet again.

is it the line about dust dying the curtains?? because that doesn't have anything to do with the trapped aspect listed on the wiki page so i doubt it.

anyway love this statement. need to finish my own post draft from over a year ago discussing jon's claim of their being a clear dividing line between watcher and watched when jon you were literally an example of someone in a domain and watching at the same time

Got that episode. and its significance to Annabelle's connection to The Web....... like why was that the moment tht changed her. so id love to hear what Mr. Web tumblr.com thinks about it

I tend to view the experiment in mag 69 (nice) as sort of like a very condensed parallel of the archivist becoming process. she, an arachnophobe since childhood*, was forced to experience the web-based fear of many other people over and over again until it gradually switched from just making her afraid to imbuing her with supernatural powers, at which point she almost immediately experienced a fatal head injury, meaning that from then on she would have to keep serving the web in order to live.

*there is what seems to be a slight discrepancy between the versions of events given in mag 69 (nice) and mag 147 that I've seen brought up a few times here and there. in mag 69 (nice), darren harlow reports that annabelle was never told that the study involved spiders, but in mag 147 she says that her childhood trauma with spiders gave her lifelong arachnophobia that eventually led to her volunteering for the study. I've seen people say this means that most of her mag 147 statement is likely made up, and while that's a valid way to read it, I don't think that's the only way, I can very easily envision the people running the study asking all applicants to list their fears and selecting her to be the receiver because of her arachnophobia without actually telling her that that spiders had anything to do with it. for simplicity's sake, I tend to assume most of mag 147 is true and she just put some spin and embellishments on a few details.

It's the first day of@tmavillainsweek!!! I'm EXTREMELY glad it slid into this week on account of taking place during *another* tma week, I get to participate this time :> The prompt for this one was "First Encounters" and I thought of Annabelle and her first encounter with The Web in her statement!!

but yeah, because I'm a weaverpilled 147chad I have been combing through posts from august 2019 to see what the reactions were at the time, and I'm interested to see that a lot people's initial responses to jon's "I wanted to do it, it felt good / I don't want to stop" thing were "oh god 😬 that's so monstrous and frightening, how could he say that?" because to me, that's always been a very particular moment of, like, heart-breaking soul-baring humanity. I get that unnerved feeling more in the scenes on the boat to ny-alesund, that's jon in full "well when you think about it is attacking and feeding from people even that bad" mode, whereas in comparison mag 147 is him pretty ruthlessly coming to grips with the reality of the situation.
