Strange Poetry
Masks, falling into place
Identities, each a different face
Stranger, acquaintance, you don't know
Maybe a friend and maybe a foe
It doesn't matter what's wearing the skin
Just dance, dance, dance with a grin
I got bored doing work and decided to sketch little examples of the fears
Hello there Mx.Stranger! How have you been? I hope this message receives you well, though there is something I'd like to bring up in a bit of a short matter because I don't want to end up taking much of your time, but I may believe that I am an avatar of you, and I must say, I quite enjoy it. Hope you are well!
Thank You, My Dear Cast Member! It's A Pleasure To Have You.
To the Stranger, I Do Not Know You, patron of performers,
I find myself curious on a number of matters, and admittedly rather thrilled to have the opportunity to ask you questions so directly, and so I hope you do not mind my asking them.
If you are person enough to have an opinion on these matters—what think you of the neat little box Smirke categorises you into? As a mortal, I find the framework useful, though woefully oversimplifying.
One other subject on which I find myself curious (I shall limit the questions to merely these two, for now) is whether you keep any servants who are still human in body? I have only known of your—beautifully uncanny—mannequins and automatons.
Yours gratefully,
Jonah Magnus ( @jonahmagnus-research )
For Your First Question, Smirke Was Simply Mortal, He Could Never Understand My True Nature. Those Neat Boxes He Sorted Us Into May Be Useful To You, But They Could Never Encompass All That I Am.
As For Your Second Question, What Really Counts As Human? My Dear Cast Members Are More Than Mere Humans, No Matter Their Physical Form. As Long As They Perform Their Part, They Are A Beloved Member Of My Cast.
a love letter of sorts, perhaps, from a monster to its god
i do not understand how so many scorn you, act as though the concealment of one's nature is a blasphemy rather than a carefully performed art. a bloody, difficult one, perhaps, one that demands and takes from the performer, but what art does not?
i hope my performance pleases; i'm no master, but then again once the mortals find just a sole justification for why you seem so terribly uncanny to them, they don't tend to look any further. foolish of them, really, but then again i am no servant of the eye, and so i am glad for their shortsightedness.
i hope you may glut upon the humans' fear forevermore
Thank You! Your Performance Is Always Excellent And Much Appreciated!
Oh Stranger, may I ask for your advice on how to better channel you in my humble daily human life?
Wear Someone Else's Skin, Put On A Mask, Steal Someone's Identity, Become A Clown, And Have A Lot Of Mannequins.
