My first time singing to a Spanish speaking audience!
Ok, so I should have written this blog post about 2 months ago. Well actually I did write it, I just didn’t put it online. Anyway a few months ago I had my first experience of singing in front of a totally Spanish speaking audience. It was at a Youtuber event in Malaga and I sang original songs from my forthcoming EP.
This was a huge milestone moment for me because although I have performed many times before in Spain, it has always been to an English speaking audience. This time was the complete opposite, they were all Spanish, not only that, about 99% of them did not speak a word of English. I had to learn how to introduce my songs and interact in Spanish. Talk about putting my three years of Spanish lessons to the test! But i had such a great time.
The audience was nearly all under the age of 21, but that was cool because honestly, Spanish teens are so sweet and for the most part pretty innocent.
After the event many of the teens asked me if I would take a photo with them which was kind of surreal and one girl asked for my autograph. The fact that I can use my music to have a positive influence on another persons life is one of the things that motivates me the most. It is true what they say music really is a universal language. I will remember that day for a very long time. It even got featured in the Newspaper Malaga Hoy, which was pretty awesome!
