The Most Ethereal Feeling - My First Novel
I just finished my first novel!
So this is kind of crazy, as I’ve been working on this for over a year non stop, and honestly, I doubted my ability many times, not believing I could write this
It’s centered around a bisexual teenage boy name Leah. Leah finds himself falling into a new friend circle at the beginning of his senior year. His friend group is small, and consists of two girls who seem to always be fighting, and an eccentric boy. He meets this group through the school play. He begins falling in love with his new best friend, Castor, who is seemingly ambiguous in his sexuality. Leah suffers from anxiety and panic attacks, and is also suffers from an abusive, alcoholic father.
I will be writing a sequel in the future focusing on the life of his friend Jamie, a black girl who is torn between her best friend, Meghan and the new boy in town, and ties into the first book down the line.
All the main characters are people of color, and many, if not all, are LGBT+.
This is my first novel, so it’s obviously not going to be best-seller quality. I am only 15, and began this book at 14. But I did put all my heart and effort into this, and wanted to put some representation out there for LGBT teens, for people struggling with the guilt of loving their best friends, LGBT teens who aren’t usually represented due to the large, overbearing amount of white gay rep in the media, abuse victims, and small town kids. I wanted to make a story that more people could relate to, even if I cannot relate to parts, myself. I don’t believe you will ever be able to relate to every story out there, but I do believe you should be able to see yourself in some. Many people cannot find a story like theirs, so I’d like to try giving them one.
I know this won’t get very much attention, but writing in general has become such a huge piece of my life and I’d like to try sharing it with the world.
The book will be for sale on amazon (for a relatively low price of course) in a week (July 2-3).
