gonna start a rewrite/au of tmnt2012. heres a few key differences:

the turtles are half-human, mutated with mutagen mixed with hamato yoshi's dna

casey and april have been friends since junior high, and he sees her as more of a sister than anything else and is protective of her

april is still a kraang mutant, and she has pink spots and markings all over her body that she hides under long sleeves and pants. she knows she is a half-human mutant, but does not know what the kraang are

the turtles are all the same age, but still consider mikey the baby brother. they are fifteen at the start of the series

at the start of the series, april is 16 and casey is 17. despite being a year and half older, he's only one grade ahead of april due to being held back in the 8th grade

donnie still has a crush on april but it is significantly diminished. she's his first ever friend aside from his brothers, and he doesn't develop feelings for her until the end of season 1, and even then he has a hard time understand how he feels

casey is very much a stand-in big brother for the turtles, offering advice on typical "boy" stuff

splinter taught the turtles japanese as their first language

april and casey are jocks and wear each other's jerseys

raph is more laid back and less prone to outburts unless outright provoked. however he can still get very heated during arguments and with still hold his ground even if he realizes halfway through he's actually wrong

leonardo is very lean, as heis the most acrobatic out of his brothers. he is also the 2nd tallest, clocking in at 5'0!

karai is not yoshi's biological daughter, but she is tang shen's biological daughter. tang shen had her before marrying yoshi. basically the same stuff happens with shredder kidnapping karai at a very young age and lying to her about how her mother died
