Did you know that loggerhead turtles have the strongest turtle shells? Honestly, that was largely the reason why I chose this turtle species for the team tank. Also giving Raph freckles made me happy :3

I had a lot of fun with this design! Peacock softshell turtle shells are so pretty! I had to give it to the artistic boi. I kinda wish that more iterations of the TMNT gave Mikey more of a spotlight, so this is partially my way of doing so - by making them leader!

Leonardo this time! I’ve got a lot planned for him!
Bog turtles are one of the smallest turtles in the world. For this iteration, Leonardo is not only the shortest of the turtles, but also the youngest. Part of my reason for this choice was because I thought it was time for Leo to be the baby bro. And the other part was because I enjoy the “small child who could fuck you up” trope.

Bishop and Draxum
Human or not, the turtles are heroes at the end of the day, so what villainous rogues our once Human friends face.
I am very excited to answer this question and bring to you our main villains for TMNT: Once Human! I like to think of Bishop and Draxum as two sides of the same coin - they’re on opposite sides, but they have a lot in common; one of which is having to deal with those meddling turtles!
Some extra notes:
*I added the “they/them” for Draxum because yokai don’t necessarily have the same gender conventions as humans and don’t fit into the gender binary. Therefore, any yokai can go by they/them, but Draxum primarily goes by he/him.
Most of those nicknames are given to them by the turtles.
There will be more villains that appear later on, but these are the main “Season 1″ villains, and are the only ones that I’m willing to reveal right now ;3

Last one of the TMNT:OH fam up - Splinter. He’s actually fairly young in terms of Splinters, I think. Yes, one of his dislikes is “pizza” and yes it causes problems with the turtles XD
Making the turtles different species was an awesome move that Rise did and it’s something a lot of fans do in their own iterations now. But what about giving Splinter a different rat species? Kangaroo rats are really cool, too! Did you know they can go their whole lives without drinking any water? They’re the only mammal that can do that!
