Requested: “I want our first kiss to be special with Thomas please???”
A/N: So, I got this request in last week, and I've finally gotten around to writing it (new baby and all, lol). ANYWAY, I hope whoever sent this in like it! As always, read at your own risk and enjoy 😊
Life in the Glade was rough, I’m not gonna lie. Especially full of girls… and one boy. My best friends in the Glade were Sonya, Harriet, and Aris. Three years spent in the Glade until these guys in black uniforms stormed in and started saving us. Sonya and Harriet somehow managed to escape from those guys and met Vince and the Right Arm.
Aris and I, along with the rest of our Group, were taken to a WCKD facility. One by one, the girls of our Group were called to be taken to a safe haven of sorts… only to be “harvested” and made into Grievers. That’s when Aris met Thomas and started working on a plan to get us all out of the facility.
All of us; Thomas, Aris, Minho, Frypan, Winston, Newt, Teresa, and myself all managed to escape. It wasn’t easy. Aris came back to our room and woke me up, telling me that it was time to leave that nasty place. I was truly thankful. But we lost someone along the way; Winston, and he’ll always be missed.
Well, you know what happens next. We made our way through the Scorch, met Jorge and Brenda, who ended up becoming my best friend. Met up with the Right Arm where Aris and I were reunited with Sonya and Harriet… before Sonya, Aris and Minho ended up getting taken by Ava Paige, as well as being betrayed by Teresa, who got all of her memories back while being in WCKD’s care before we escaped.
We ended up saving Minho, while losing a couple of people along the way, and gaining a new person. Those three being Teresa, Gally… and Newt. Newt hit the hardest for all of us, but especially Thomas.
About two and a half years ago, Thomas started telling me all the things that those two would do together, and how on Thomas’ first night in the Glade, Newt gave him this alcohol stuff that Gally made… that he ended up spitting out of his mouth because the taste was awful. He also told me about how Newt made him a runner, and how in his letter to Thomas, Newt said he’d follow Thomas anywhere because of the fact that he ran into the Maze after Minho and Alby, a friend they lost in the Glade to the Grievers.
A few days after Thomas woke up in the Safe Haven, I saw him standing at the far end of the beach, staring out at the ocean. It was then that I developed my little crush on him, feeling it manifest over the course of two and a half years.
Now, here we are. Two and a half years later, and we’ve been together for about four of those months. We’re still in the honeymoon phase, but it’s been awesome. We just sort of fell into our relationship. I was there for him on the nights when he had nightmares about Newt and Teresa, as well as dreams about the Glade. His hammock was right next to mine, so when he would whimper at night because of those dreams, I’d always wake him up gently and say sweet words to him before he would place his hand on my arm and ask me to lay with him.
And I probably know what you’re probably thinking; have Thomas and I had our first kiss? And my answer to that would be… no.
It’s a couple weeks after Christmas and everyone is helping out by taking down all the homemade Christmas decorations we all pitched in to make. Of course, we got to keep the ones we made. We just had to remember where we put them for next year.
Oh, I forgot to mention that in the four months Thomas and I have been together for, he and Vince, along with Minho, Gally and Jorge, built a small hut for him and I to live in.
Okay. Back to now.
I noticed that Thomas was talking to Vince very animatedly. What it was, I couldn’t tell you, but it had me very intrigued.
“What do you think they’re talking about?” Sonya asked, startling me. She chuckled, “I’m sorry,” while putting her hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t do that ever again,” I said.
“You’ve said that before. Didn’t really work.”
Feeling someone walk up next to me, they asked, “What are they talking about?”
Shrugging, I said, “I don’t know, Hare. But it must be something very important.” I guess they shared a look because I heard them both lightly chuckle. I looked between them and said, “Care to share with the rest of the Glade? I mean, class.”
Walking by, Aris said, “They’re talking about you, Y/N/N.”
I followed him with my eyes as he walked away, something inside of me saying to follow him. “Hey, wait a second! You can’t just walk by spilling that kind of information and not give details.”
“Can’t. All the guys are sworn to secrecy. See ya later!”
What he said stopped me dead in my tracks. I couldn’t believe that he would hold out on me! So, I did what any other girl would do. I went to Brenda.
“Bren!” I exclaimed, finding her reading in her hammock.
“Hey, Y/N/N,” she said, sitting up slightly. “What’s–”
“What’s Thomas planning? Aris said he was talking to Vince about me, and I need to know what he’s planning,” I interrupted.
I noticed her eyes go wide, but I didn’t think enough to stop my mouth from spilling the words that came out. “Because I always help him plan things, even if it’s for me. I mean, I even helped plan our first date because everyone knows I love walking on the beach and stargazing–”
“Y/N/N!” Brenda exclaimed.
Shutting my mouth, I sighed and closed my eyes. “He’s right behind me, isn’t he?”
“Yes, he is,” Thomas said.
I turned around and faced him, giving him a quick kiss on his cheek before walking away, embarrassed that he just heard my ranting. I don’t know what happened next because I walked back to our hut, sitting on our bed and staring out at the water from the window.
I wasn’t sure how much time had passed before I felt the bed dip from Thomas sitting next to me. He didn’t say anything, just held out his hand for me to take, to which I did. Gently dragging me out of bed, Thomas took me to the door of our hut, turning me to face him.
“If you look up, I’ll show what I’ve been ‘planning’,” he said.
I did as I was told and looked up, seeing mistletoe hanging down. Smiling a little, I looked back at him. “You’re gonna kiss me under the mistletoe?”
Shrugging, he said, “I want our first kiss to be special.”
Leaning up on my toes and wrapping my arms around his neck, I whispered, “Would’ve been special either way,” before putting my lips upon his. I savored the feeling of finally having his lips on mine.
When we pulled away and rested our foreheads against each other, I said the three words I’ve been waiting to say. “I love you.”

The Last City. That’s where Minho is. That’s also where Teresa is. That’s where we are. We’re here to save Minho, who got taken by WCKD and who Teresa betrayed us over. Speaking of Teresa, we currently have her in our custody.
After Gally sat her down in the chair and took the sack off her head, she looked at him like she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. “Gally?”
He looked over at me and with his eyes told me that I could go ahead and take over for him. Looking back at Teresa and crossing my arms, I said, “Here’s how this is gonna go. We’re gonna ask you some questions, and you’re gonna tell us exactly what we need to know. We’re gonna start off simple. Where the hell is Minho?”
Looking from me to Thomas, she answered, “You guys don’t seriously think–”
Moving in front of him, I said, “Don’t look at him. Why are you looking at him? Look at me. He’s not gonna help you.”
Relenting, she looked down as I continued, “Now, we know you have Minho in the building. Where?”
It took her a second to answer my question, but she finally did. “He’s with the others in holding. Sublevel three.”
“How many others?” Newt asked. Him and Thomas were sitting chairs, Gally and Frypan sitting or leaning on the table behind us with Brenda and Jorge behind us.
“Twenty-eight.”
Looking back at Brenda, she set a card down while saying, “We can make that work.”
“We?” Thomas whispered.
I looked down at him and whispered back, “I’ll tell you later.”
“No. No, you guys don’t understand,” Teresa said, causing all of us to look back at her. “The whole level’s restricted. Y-you can’t get in without a thumbprint ID.”
“That’s why you’re gonna come with us,” Thomas said, leaning his elbows on his knees.
“Well, I don’t know,” Gally said. “We don’t necessarily need her. Right?”
I looked over at Gally as he reached next to him to grab a scalpel knife, shrugging. “Well, not all of her.”
A little backstory about Teresa and I. We were good friends after I got put with Group A. Did WCKD do this on purpose? I’m not sure, but at the time I was thankful for it. Happy to have another girl to bond with. Once we made it to the Right Arm and we all got captured before fighting back, she revealed her true colors to us. She hid the fact that she got her memories back and that she was working for WCKD the entire time. I couldn’t help but want to get a little payback.
So, grabbing the scalpel knife from Gally, I said, “We really just need her finger.”
“Y/N, back off,” Thomas said.
“What, you squeamish?” I asked. “After all she’s done to us, she’s probably done worse to Minho.”
“That’s not the plan,” he said, standing up. I turned to face him as he stood next to me, reaching for the scalpel. Gently, he said, “Back off.”
Turning my head, I looked at Teresa as she said, “It won’t make a difference. Do whatever you want to me.”
“Gladly,” I quickly spoke up as Thomas successfully took the knife from my hand. I sat down in his seat while Teresa went on.
“You still won’t get through the front door. The sensors will pick you up–”
“We know,” Thomas said. “We’re tagged.”
“Courtesy of your employer,” I mumbled, crossing my arms.
I watched as Thomas walked up to her and squatted next to her, raising the knife in his hand. “You’re gonna help us with that, too.”

After the boys were done getting sliced open on the back of the neck, it was my turn. Awesome.
I sat in the chair provided backwards, putting my hair up into a ponytail to get my hair out of the way of my neck.
“Try to relax,” she said. “This is gonna sting.”
“Just get it over with,” I said, grunting in small pain as soon as I felt the blade slice into my neck.
She did her thing for a moment before stopping and saying, “She’s looking good. Healthy.”
“Who is?”
“Brenda.”
“Oh.”
“How’ve you guys been getting her serum?” she asked.
“What serum? She’s only had one. The one Mary made back in the mountains,” I replied.
“I just didn’t think she’d still be alive,” Teresa commented.
Confused, I said, “Yeah? Why wouldn’t she be?”
“That was months ago,” she said, pulling the chip out of my neck.
I grunted as I turned around to face her, grabbing at the back of my neck.
“Y/N, that’s not possible. She should’ve turned by now. There’s no way–”
Standing and knocking the chair over, I said, “That’s enough,” before walking towards the boys, making eye contact with Thomas.
“You don’t believe me?” Teresa asked.
Turning back to face her, I said, “Why the hell should I believe you? After what you did to us? No, no. See, me believing anything that comes out of your mouth has flown the coop. You made your choice. You betrayed us. After everything those assholes put us through, you still went back to them.”
“Everything okay over here?” Gally asked.
“Yep, we’re done here.” I turned and walked away from the group, needing to gather myself before going on this death defying mission to save our friend. I ended up on the roof, standing near the edge with my arms crossed.
Upon hearing footsteps behind me, I sighed and said, “I don’t wanna talk about it, Thomas.”
“Not Thomas,” Brenda said. Chuckling, she said, “That boy thinks he can save everyone.”
“That’s why I love him,” I said under my breath. “One of the better qualities of him.”
“Listen,” she said. “I didn’t come up here to talk about Thomas. He asked me to come find you. We’re all ready to go.”
“Oh,” I said, scratching my brow. “Yeah. I’m coming.”
After I got back with the group, Thomas had asked if I was okay, to which I said that I was and that I just wanted to get this over with to save Minho before we made our way towards the WCKD building to save our friend.
Thomas, Newt and Gally successfully got into the building with Teresa while Brenda and I went to the bus garage to snag a bus. Gally radioed us and asked where we were with the bus before Brenda stopped the bus next to him and the kids.
“Where’s Thomas?” I asked while the kids piled up in the bus.
“I was hoping he was with you,” Gally replied. I went to hop down off the bus before he said, “Wait, wait! Stay here with the kids. Just wait here. I’ll find him.”
“Are fucking nuts?” I exclaimed, standing in front of him. “I’m going with you.” I turned to look at Brenda over my shoulder and said, “Don’t go anywhere,” before following after Gally.
We eventually found a very wet Thomas, along with a very wet Newt and Minho. After Gally took out three of the WCKD guards, he motioned for me to come over by him before he took off his helmet.
“Gally?” Minho said. “Y/N/N?”
“Minho,” Gally said.
I looked at all three of the wet boys in front of me before I looked up and saw a busted window, putting two and two together. “You guys are fucking nuts.”
After watching Thomas spit and say, “I’ll explain later” to Minho, he walked over to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. “You’re supposed to be with Brenda.”
“I needed to make sure you were okay,” I replied.
“Hey, guys,” Gally said. “Come on. We can’t waste time.”
~~~
Probably an hour later, I found myself running with Brenda. Frypan, Minho and Gally towards Thomas, me shouting his name while I ran. I didn’t care if the others were following me, I just had to get to Thomas.
When I finally made it to him after what seemed like hours of me running through warfare and fire, I watched as he looked at Newt’s body laying on the ground. I couldn’t see why Newt was laying on the ground, so I walked a couple feet closer, stopping in my tracks when I noticed the knife sticking out of his chest.
A teary eyed Thomas locked eyes with me, a tear streaming down his face as he did. Watching as he stood, we never took our eyes off of each other as I walked closer to him, quietly saying his name. He took his eyes off mine, bending down to grab his gun before he stood back up straight, putting his eyes on mine one last time before he turned and walked away, presumably back to the WCKD building.
Upon hearing the others footsteps behind me, I turned around and ran right into Minho’s arms. Minho was my best friend in the Glade, so I was thankful we got him back.
It wasn’t long before the four of us started to make our way back to the Berg where Vince and Jorge were waiting. I stopped in my tracks next to Minho, who had his arm around my shoulder.
“Y/N/N?” he asked.
“I can’t go back with you guys,” I replied. “Not without Thomas.” Looking into Minho’s eyes, I saw them laced with concern. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.” Turning around and running towards the WCKD building, I had one purpose and one purpose only; to get to Thomas and bring him to the Safe Haven with me.
Again, it felt like I’d been running for hours trying to get to Thomas. When I made it to the building, it was already on fire, courtesy of Lawrence and his crew of Cranks. So, the only way for me to go was up.
When I made it to the roof, I walked backwards out of the door, scared of the flames. I turned around upon hearing a female call my name. When I looked from Teresa to Thomas, I bolted right for him and knelt as he said my name.
I didn’t care about the blood on his hands as I reached over and laced my fingers with his. “You better live, you dumbass,” I said, tears in my eyes. Looking at Teresa’s hand as she handed something to me, she explained to me what it was.
“The serum. Made from Thomas’ blood.”
“How’d you get it?” I asked.
“The napkin from slicing his neck,” she said, both of chuckling wetly at her reply. “I’m so sorry. For everything. I tried.”
Nodding slightly, I said, “I know,” before hearing the Berg. All three of us looked at it for a second before I tried picking Thomas up and saying, “Come on. We gotta go. All three of us.” With both of us struggling, Teresa and I managed to get Thomas on his feet.
After walking towards the edge of the roof, we managed to get Thomas on the Berg. Naturally, he wanted me to go next, but I pushed Teresa towards the giant aircraft first before an explosion hit the building causing her and I to fall to our knees.
“Y/N/N! Y/N!” Teresa yelled. I looked at her as she said, “You gotta go!”
“What about you?” I yelled back.
The look on her face told me everything I needed to know. So, I nodded and said that I’d keep Thomas and the rest of our Gladers safe. We both stood up and hugged each other before I let go and bolted towards the Berg at the feeling of the building coming down.
Last thing I heard was Thomas screaming no before I couldn’t hear anything else; the pulsing in my ears being the only thing I could hear after the adrenaline wore off.
~~~
When we made it to the Safe Haven, I helped take care of Thomas. Dressing his gunshot wound, changing the dressings. I was basically his nurse for 10 days while he healed. I still managed to do my part in the Safe Haven while helping take care of him.
I wasn’t there by his side when he woke up, and I regretted it. I watched as he hugged everyone in our little group before finally wrapping his arms around my waist, my own around his neck.
Once our little reunion was over, we all had to go back to work, Thomas following me like a lost puppy. Vince had gathered us all up later that night, telling me the reason he waited this long was because he wanted Thomas to be awake and be a part of it before giving his big speech. I was sitting in between Thomas and Minho, watching as Vince gave his speech.
“We have come a long way together,” he spoke. “So many have sacrificed so much to make this place possible. Your friends and your family. So, here’s to the ones who couldn’t be here. Here’s to the friends we lost. This place is for you. It’s for all of us. But this,” Vince said, looking behind him and pointing with the handle of a knife towards a tall slab of rock before turning to us and finishing, “This is for them. So, in your own time, in your own way, come make your peace. And welcome to the Safe Haven!”
Everyone around us, including myself, cheered as we finally made it to a place away from harm. I looked at Thomas as he clapped before getting up and hugging my friends around me.
Once it got a little more dark and the weather got cooler, I put on a jacket, much like everyone else. As I was walking back towards the fire, I heard Frypan ask if everyone wanted some food.
“Hope it’s better than that stuff you used to make in the Glade,” I joked, causing everyone around me to laugh, including Frypan. A few minutes go by before I notice Minho join us. After I asked where Thomas was, he told me that the boy in question needed a few minutes alone as he was reading a letter.
A little while later, Thomas came and joined us at the fire. I was sitting next to Brenda as he did, so I scooted a little closer to her to make room for Thomas.
After a little while we all went to bed, and when I woke up the next morning, I didn’t see Thomas anywhere. So, naturally, I went looking for him and found him standing down the beach, looking at the vial of The Cure in his hands.
“What’cha doing, stud?” I asked, walking towards him.
He looked at me and smirked a little, holding his arm out for me. I ran up to him and gave him a side hug, to which he returned and replied, “Nothing. Just thinking.”
“About?”
Sighing he said, “Life. How we’ve made it this far. When I woke up in the Box, I didn’t think I’d make it here.”
“Neither did I,” I said. “Actually, I don’t think any of us did. I mean, we’ve lost people along the way, but… I know they’d be proud of us.” Looking up at him, I finished my thought by adding, “Of you.”
He looked down at me and at the same time, we both leaned towards each other and pressed our lips against one another. After some time, we pulled apart before Thomas said, “I’ve been wanting to kiss you for a while.”
Smiling, I said, “That makes two of us,” before he smiled back at me and pressed his lips against mine again, both of us basking in that wonderful, wonderful feeling.

A/N: Hi, friends! This was also one of the requests that was sent a while ago that I’m just now getting around to. This is my second Thomas piece that I hope y’all will enjoy. My first one, What Do You Want Me To Say, has been getting some love lately, so hopefully this one gets as much, lol. As always, read at your own risk and enjoy 😊
Thomas hadn’t slept. Thomas hadn’t eaten. That much I could tell just from standing a few feet away.
Exhaustion and hunger were both taking over us, both in different ways. Him; because he was worried about me. And me? Because I had been running for my life. He seemed a little shocked to see me standing at the table with Brenda, Frypan and Jorge when he, Newt and Gally came back from whatever it was they were up to, but it seemed like there was a more serious topic of conversation he had on his mind that didn’t involve me.
I watched as he was facing a wall, contemplating something before he turned back around, saying, “No. There’s gotta be another way.”
Either I wasn’t paying attention or I missed the conversation they had beforehand because what he just said confused the hell out of me.
“Like, what? You’ve seen the building,” Gally said. “She is our only way in.”
“You really think she’s gonna help us?” Thomas asked.
I looked at Newt, who had this almost pissed off, far off look on his face as Gally answered Thomas with, “I don’t plan on asking for her permission.”
Looking away from Newt to Brenda, I whispered, “Am I missing something here?”
She put her hand in front of me and lightly tapped the table twice before saying, “This is the same girl that betrayed us, correct? Same dick?”
Pointing his thumb to Brenda, Gally said, “I like her.”
I looked at Gally and snickered a little before I saw Thomas look at me from the corner of my eye, hands on his hips and looking very unamused. I looked at him, concerned look on my face before I asked, “Tommy, what’s going on?”
Not giving me an answer or thinking about giving me one, Thomas looked at me for a second before looking at a spot in front of me.
“What, are you afraid your little girlfriend’s gonna get hurt? Hmm?” Newt asked.
Well, that attitude came way out of left field.
Thomas looked up from the spot in front of me to my own eyes before he moved them over to Newt’s.
After a second of staring at each other, Newt continued with his interrogation. “Because this has obviously never been just about rescuing Minho. Has it?”
“Wait, hold on,” I said, wanting some answers. “Can someone please tell me who the hell he’s talking about ‘cause I’ve obviously missed something here.”
Giving me a soft but firm look, Newt said, “Teresa,” before looking back at Thomas.
Well, that fucking made sense to me now.
“She’s the only reason that Minho’s even missing in the first place,” Newt continued. “Now we finally have an opportunity to get him back, and what? You don’t want to because of her? Because deep down inside, you still care about her, don’t you? Just admit it.”
I felt Brenda’s hand on top of mine as Newt was saying all this, and as Thomas gave his reply of, “Newt, I--”
Shoving Thomas against the wall behind, Newt yelled, “Don’t lie to me! Don’t.. Lie.. to.. me!”
I could only look down at this point. I mean, I knew Thomas cared deeply for Teresa, but I didn’t know how deep it actually went. Looking back up as Newt whispered, “Sorry,” to Thomas, he turned around soon after looking at all of us before finally locking his eyes with mine. “I’m sorry.”
Watching as he walked off holding his right arm, I quickly ran behind Brenda and Gally to follow Newt outside. Once I found him sitting on the edge of the roof, I walked over to him and stood there for a second.
“Mind if I sit down or are you gonna freak out on me if I do?” I asked.
He chuckled and patted the concrete next to him before I sat down and looked at his profile.
“What’s going on, Newt?” My eyes danced around his face for a moment before I spoke up again. “Before Thomas came into the Maze, I was your best friend. Talk to me.”
He sighed before looking at me, saying, “Sorry for that. Back there.”
“It’s okay,” I replied, putting my hand on his knee.
Looking behind us, he sighed. So, being the nosy person that I am, I too turned and looked to see who was standing behind us; Thomas.
I watched as Newt looked back down at his arm for a second before saying, “Guess I can’t hide this anymore.” He pulled up his jacket sleeve, revealing the angry dark red and black veins that we all know associates with Cranks.
Tears immediately filled my eyes as Thomas said, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Didn’t think it would make any difference,” Newt replied.
“Wouldn’t make any difference?” I whispered. “Newt--”
“All I know,” he interrupted. “Is that WCKD must’ve put me in that Maze for a reason.”
“And what reason would that be? Hmm?”
“Maybe it was literally just so they could tell the difference between immunes like you and Thomas, and people like me.”
After a second of Newt looking back at Thomas, said aforementioned boy spoke up. “You know we can still fix this, Newt. Okay? We can.”
Scoffing with tears streaming down my cheeks, I turned as best I could to face Thomas, asking, “Can we? Are you 100 percent sure about that, Thomas?”
“Y/N/N, don’t worry about me,” Newt said, gaining my attention again. “This is about Minho. Now he needs us.”
I knew he was talking to both Thomas and I at his point, but his eyes were still glued to mine as he continued his statement. “So, if there’s even the slightest chance that we can save him, we can get him out of there, then we have to take that. No matter what the cost.”
“Okay,” Thomas said, voice soft. “I hear you.”
Because of the fact that I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, I stood up and took a few steps behind Thomas before I turned around and said, “Well, I don’t hear you. I’m not losing the first best friend I ever remember making to the death sentence they call the Flare.”
Thomas stood up and turned to face me. “Y/N, we’re going to save both of them--”
“Or what? Die trying?” I scoffed before continuing. “Because if you hadn’t noticed, Thomas, I ran for my life for six damn months trying to get away from WCKD.” As I sniffled back more tears, I saw Newt walk past me from the corner of my eye to go back inside. I guess to give Thomas and I whatever kind of privacy he thought we needed.
“I have noticed,” Thomas said. “I noticed the moment you were gone when WCKD found us in the mountains after first meeting Jorge and Brenda.”
“Then why the hell didn’t you come looking for me?”
“I did. As we were trying to find the Right Arm, I was also looking for you, too,” Thomas said, taking a couple steps towards me.
“Is that why you looked so shocked to see me earlier?” I asked, tilting my head up some to look at him as he slowly got closer.
“Yes,” he replied, without missing a beat.
“Why?” I whispered.
Tucking a piece of loose hair behind my ear, he said, “Because… nobody’s seen you in days.”
I chuckled. “Try months.”
He started leaning his head down as I was slowly standing on my toes, and said, “I’m gonna kiss you now.”
Closing the gap between us, I pressed my lips to his and just stood there for a moment, savoring the moment. Our lips moved in sync for a couple minutes before he was the first to pull away.
