for your newtmas fic, what songs do you think match the characters the best? cus every time i re-read your fic and it gets to thomas’ pov i just think of the song stressed out by 21 pilots. anyways, i love your fic so so much!

In general I think Newt would be “Creep” by Radiohead and Thomas would be “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. But depending on specific fics I think that for The Knife Between us it would be “The Line” by Twenty One pilots or “Nobody’s Soldier” by Hozier. Newt would be “Fight or Flight” by Conan Gray. Honorable mention: “Scared of my guitar” by Olivia Rodrigo because it’s just SO Newtmas coded.l, and the “Doubt” by Twenty One Pilots

But honestly there are so many more and I have entire playlists built for so many different vibes. My red flag is that I make playlists over every minor inconvenience.

ok im currently re-reading maze runner after re-watching the movies, n i couldn't stop thinking about thomas after the events of the death cure. SO here are some fun lil headcanons i came up with...

01. ㅤfor the first two months at the new safe haven, thomas just stopped speaking entirely. after everything that happened — all those things he never had the chance to say because they felt too heavy or he didn't have time — nothing would come out. it was all too much for him. he couldn't form a single word, his throat tightening every time he tried.

02. ㅤthomas developed severe chronic/phantom pain from all the large injuries he suffered during the collapse of the last city. due to stress, he also developed chronic migraines. sometimes, it would get so bad to the point that he couldn't breathe or keep himself upright.

03. ㅤthomas shifts from being aggressively protective and dependent on the remaining survivors to completely distancing himself — especially with minho. his survivor's guilt convinces him that anyone who gets too close to him is destined with an awful fate. he always keeps an eye but won't engage.

04. ㅤthomas always keeps his most important items on him. but they're not any random items. he never takes off the the necklace newt gave him, and still keeps the letter inside the vile. he always carries chucks little, wooden carving in his pocket, going mental if he thinks he's dropped or lost it. he constantly has a piece of fabric wrapped around his wrist, a scrap he accidentally tugged off of teresa's flannel.
