this one goes out to my closest friends; the ones who make me feel less alien. i do not think i would be here if not for them.
OO1: the morning after.
as she chooses to not consume alcohol, and is underage, it is rare that riley will ever join lottie on a night out on the town. instead, she decides to be there for the important part; the morning after. equipped with tylenol, saltine crackers and plenty of water, she aims to clear the cloud of fog that follows her friend’s head, no matter the day.
OO2: an adventure a day keeps the doctor away.
when the idea of the show was produced, riley did her best to make as many friends on the forum as she could; lottie was one of these friends. she wanted to not feel so alone in the place, especially if things didn’t work out. it was then through the thought of meeting her, and through the idea of not being so alone in the mansion, that riley agreed to the idea of being in a house with forty-odd strangers.
OO3: vicariously living through someone else.
songs do an average job at painting the picture of a wild night out, and tales from her older sister do semi-decent as well, but riley finds that no inspiration for any form of writing comes from anybody else, quite like it does lottie. there’s something about the uncanny way that ms. blake tells stories, that has riley clinging on to her every word. although she’s not sure if it’s that well-kept of a secret, she notes down minute details from lottie’s adventures and bases her poetry off of them.
OO4: put down that death stick, grab this life stick.
riley doesn’t make a habit of much, but smoking is her one vice. her one bad habit that the world permits her. it’s also the one thing that started off the intensity of friendship. if anything, riley was more like an irritating younger sister, and she was terrified of being seen as nothing more than such a figure to lottie. so, she makes a habit of seeming as though her edges are a little rougher whenever she’s around the older girl. now it’s a force of habit, and she’s too scared to admit that perhaps the death sticks are costing her more than they’re worth.
OO5: paradise by the dashboard light.
despite having two very different music tastes, riley and lottie share one very common thing; horrible dancing to music that’s too loud. whether it be older rock or british punk-pop, the only time you will ever catch riley dancing is when she’s with lottie. letting loose and having fun isn’t something that comes easy to the vegas native, and lottie manages to release the self-conscious, crippling anxiety that is often associated with her dancing, and allows riley to scream fuck the world, cause it’s my life.
