EVENT: Order Meeting, August 7th

OUTLINE

Albus Dumbledore has called a meeting of the Order of the Phoenix. He is expected to leave at some point during the meeting to return to Hogwarts.

TIME FREEZE: The events begins now. Normal time will be frozen until August 9th, 12pm GMT.

EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS

All Order Members, possibly excluding Lily Potter and Alice Longbottom.

General alliance group directions below:

ORDER MEMBERS: Your character should attend the event if possible, but if you are unable to take part then please write a self-para or some kind of interaction explaining your absence. Open characters can be mentioned in passing, or left out if preferred.

DEATH EATERS: The meeting takes place unbeknownst to the Death Eaters, so none will be involved. However, once Albus Dumbledore leaves, we will begin the prophecy plotline.

NEUTRAL: No neutral characters are involved, allies of a side or not.

WHAT HAPPENS

The Order should make a plan for avenging Caradoc Dearborn, namely an attack on the Death Eaters

The meeting takes place at Order Headquarters, at 62 Woodfield Road, London.

At some point whilst this is still running, Dumbledore will leave and hear the prophecy regarding Voldemort and the child who will defeat him. Snape overhears this and tells Voldemort, but that will be played out seperately.

This event will be run as a round para. If you wish to participate, SEND A MESSAGE TO THE MAIN. If you do not want to do the para, you can do gifchats/one to one paras.

Feel free to start things about the meeting ASAP.

Order Meeting, 5 July

My friends,

In the light of recent events, I believe it is important we meet once more, at the usual place. Please attend unless you are truly unable.

I shall not be around for some days after that - business at Hogwarts requires me to take a trip to Hogsmeade, to interview an applicant for our now open post of Divination professor.

Heading Straight For A Fall - July 18th, 1980 - Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix

It was rare that Albus Dumbledore would feel at a loss for what to do, but not unheard of. For he was not a perfect man, despite his strength and skill, and he too had felt the blackness of an apparently inescapable fate. He rested his head in his hands, sat at the desk in what he was using as a temporary office in the Order's Headquarters in Woodfield Road, London. Often away from Hogwarts in such a time, Albus trusted Minerva to keep control when he was absent.

The Order's fairly sparse numbers and the youth of many in their ranks put them at a distinct disadvantage to their opponents, many of them seasoned fighters and followers of Lord Voldemort.

The terrible discovery of that morning, insofar known only to himself, Alastor Moody and Minerva McGonagall, whom he had owled immediately, could not be kept a secret for long, and he was loathe to be the bearer of yet another piece of tragic news. Morale was low, and the war appeared to be moving strongly in the favour of the Death Eaters already, and now this...

On occasion, the apparent helplessness of their situation would dawn on him at the most inopportune of moments. This was one of those moments.

He stood, and left the room, closing the door behind him with a quiet click. The house was quietly and simply furnished, but seemed fairly cosy for a location where so much war planning took place. The main meeting room was filled with various chairs and couches, as well as the odd table. He walked in, and the chatter which could be heard down the corridor immediately lulled. 

Most of the Order were present - Lily and James Potter had come to the Headquarters from their place of hiding in Godric's Hollow, against Albus' advice due to Lily's condition, and Alice was also present, although her husband, Frank Longbottom, must have been at the Auror Office with Alastor sorting out the chaos which had taken over that morning.

Other faces, nearly all of whom he'd taught or had been in his house, looked up at him. Dorcas, Marlene, Mary Macdonald - though Albus suspected she'd much rather be in her own home in that quaint little Muggle seaside town, Dedalus - foolish boy, he never did take things seriously, was laughing at something Kingsley Shacklebolt, sat next to him, had said.

Peter Pettigrew was characteristically quiet, talking seriously to Edgar, who looked a little concerned. Surely worrying about his family, as usual. Minerva was at Hogwarts, though she'd wanted to come to help Albus as soon as she'd heard the terrible news. Sirius appeared to be arguing with Remus about something, unlikely to be of much import, as the four "Marauders", even now rarely argued amongst themselves. The Prewett boys sat with them, lazing around and seemingly amused with their argument.

And of course, one notable absence.

Albus looked around, taking in the faces of those who relied on him, those he'd come to know all too well, those he had to terrify once again. He stepped forward into the room and sat down in a brown armchair in the center of the group, stowing his wand in his robes. Their joviality, even at such a dark time, would have lifted his spirits at any other occasion, but he spoke with a heavy heart and deep regret.

"This... This morning, the head of Caradoc Dearborn was discovered at the main entrance to the Auror Offices. His body has not been found."

Albus sighed, as the horror of the revelation swept through the room, the terrible sense of shock almost tangible.
