hiiii not too weird or dark for me! ngl not many things are 😭😭 but yes, they did sleep together. she was trying to seduce him before he killed her. i imagine he killed her the same way, the scene is the same, he’s still shocked by what she’s doing and saying.
i think he does freak out about the scripts being different because it’s more accurate to reader rather than catherine. reader exaggerates all those things that pope wants catherine to say. and i know it may not seem like it but pope DOES feel something for reader, hes just too wrapped up in his nostalgic love for catherine to pay any mind to it.
that being said, when she’s saying those things, instead of seeing catherine for who he’s always seen her as, i can say with certainty that he sees reader instead. because catherine isn’t the type of person to say she wants him, she’s made it clear she doesn’t.
and when she’s finally saying it? it doesn’t feel right to him. so, instead of catherine, he sees reader and it makes his mind race. so, yes…….. he did freak out 😭😭🙏
