Marry him. What? Listen to me. The only way that the city will be safe for Hope's return is if you have unified your people and I have unified my own, and Davina will eventually lead her witches, and whatever their goal may be, she is no enemy to your child. Do what you need to bring your daughter home. This is my wish for you.
Okay what’s your favorite episode of TO and why?
Ooh wanting me to choose a favorite? How dare you lol
Well, let's start by eliminating seasons 3, 4, and 5. But I will give a special shout out to 4x03 and 5x09 for all the good Klope bonding. I also enjoy both 2x06 and 2x07 for when Klaus finally learns about his dad from Esther, spends time with Ansel, and of course the amazing Klelijah scenes.
So my indecisive ass has narrowed it down to three episodes, and that's about as far as we're gonna get lol. These are just gonna be in chronological order...
1x16:
This whole 1x14-1x16 arc is one of the best of the show, period. But this episode is just the culmination of so much build-up from TVD and the first half of TO for Klaus and Rebekah's relationship. Klaus has been doing terrible things to Rebekah for centuries, but she's never been able/allowed to leave him. Klaus has just learned that his beloved little sister is the one who brought Mikael to NOLA to scare/kill him all those years ago, forcing them out of the first real home they had in forever. Things finally come to a head when they're forced to deal with their issues and realize that time away from each other is what they both need to let go and start rebuilding their relationship in a healthier way. It's beautiful, emotional, heartwrenching, and bittersweet as not just Klaus loses Rebekah, but we do too. The episode also has the baby Klebekah flashbacks, the introduction of the wooden knight, and the ot3 are all together (even if it's not their choosing lol).
1x22:
This was such a strong way to end season 1. Everything the family had been building started falling apart in the episode before, as all the factions are at war and the Mikaelsons aren't the ones holding any of the cards/power anymore. All of Klaus's efforts and schemes to take control of the quarter and be "king" again have failed and gotten him nowhere good. Baby Hope is born, but under terrible circumstances as the witches plan to sacrifice her. Hayley gets murdered shortly after giving birth, just to come back a hybrid. And the family all has to work together to save their "only hope". They succeed in saving Hope from the witches, but at a great cost. Klaus and Hayley have to make a choice no parent should ever have to make - to send their baby away from them just to keep her safe from the mess in the quarter and all their enemies. It's another emotional rollercoaster of an episode. I love the family working together in this one, as well as the quieter family scenes (Hayley and Klaus in the flashback, Klaus holding Hope for the first time, etc.). We also get the surprise at the end of more Mikaelsons coming back to wreak some havoc in the next season. Plus, who can forget that perfect, bittersweet ending scene with Klaus, baby Hope, and Rebekah? We're heartbroken at Klaus (and Hayley) having to send Hope away, but it's finally a way for him to make things up to Rebekah by allowing her to raise a child just like she always wanted :')
2x09:
You'll notice a theme with all of these episodes in that I love when they had the family all together and working on the same side. This one has the little family reunion with the ot3, Hayley, and Hope at the safe house. It's a Christmas episode, which is always bound to be a favorite. And they all get to be happy, if only for a little while. Klaus and Hayley get to see Hope for the first time in months, and proceed to have cute little bonding moments. We're finally seeing more of the adorable baby Hope too. There are some lighter, funnier moments, which are needed in a show like TO. Plus, we get some more great Klebekah moments, including when Klaus ("why would I want to cure myself of being the most powerful creature on the planet") is ready to sacrifice himself and take Rebekah's place in Esther's body-swapping spell.
Sleeping at Last
I wanted to reblog this in honor of the Map of Moments anniversary. Since I couldn’t find it on my blog, I’m re-posting (or possibly posting for the first time?)
Based on the song of the same name by Light, or, as I like to call it, Hope's lullaby.
Rebekah stretched, blinking the sleep from her eyes and turning tiredly to check the time on her cell phone. Confused, she sat up quickly and looked around, just now noticing the morning light that filled the room. Hope usually woke up hungry at least twice a night. How had Rebekah slept till seven o'clock in the morning?
Her concern quickly turned to contentment as she remembered how she had left Hope the night before – in Hayley's arms. Hayley must have stayed in the nursery with Hope the whole night. Rebekah brushed off her feelings of jealousy with ease – all it took was the memory of Hayley's heartwarming reunion with Hope to make Rebekah set aside her own selfishness.
Still in her pink cotton designer pajamas, Rebekah ventured out into the hall, tip-toeing barefoot towards the last-minute nursery she and Elijah had arranged. While waiting for Klaus and Hayley, Rebekah had bought a crib and other necessities at a local department store.
Gingerly the blonde vampiress twisted the knob on the door, and peeked inside.
The first thing she saw was Hayley, curled in the rocking chair at the foot of the crib, sound asleep and covered by a fuzzy white blanket that Rebekah had seen at the store and deemed essential enough to add to her list, if only because it was fabulous and looked so cozy. Though that blanket had not been in the nursery the last time Rebekah had seen it…
Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at the crib.
Niklaus lay half-sitting, half-leaning against the bars, his fingers twined through to be as close as possible to his little girl. He was asleep as well, and though Rebekah thought his position looked uncomfortable, she had no doubt that her big brother had not slept so peacefully in hundreds and hundreds of years as he was sleeping now.
She tried to open the door further, but something was blocking the way. She looked down and saw a pair of legs in wrinkled black trousers, and she stifled a giggle as she realized her other big brother sat in the entry, his head resting on the side of a shelf, his eyes closed and his mouth slightly open – he was fast asleep as well. His tie hung undone over his shoulders, and his shirt was partially un-tucked.
At some point in the night her brothers had joined Hayley in the nursery, Rebekah thought with a smile, and one of them had taken the blanket from the living room to cover the Mama Wolf. Klaus had come in and fallen asleep as close as he possibly could to his little girl, and Elijah had probably stood in the doorway for hours before lowering to the ground and giving in to exhaustion. Steadfast devotees, the lot of them.
Rebekah's eyes were damp, and her cheeks ached from smiling. She could not remember ever being so happy, and she knew the same went for everyone in Hope's little nursery. She wiped her eyes and hugged herself, taking a long moment to enjoy the scene before her. Just as she was about to quietly close the door and go about making Hope's morning bottle, though, she heard a cooing little sigh.
Hope wriggled slightly and opened her blue, blue eyes – Nik's eyes – and Rebekah caught her breath, praying a quick prayer that Hayley and her brothers would not wake.
The infant did not cry – she found Rebekah's loving gaze and met it with an adorable yawn. "Good morning, my love," Rebekah whispered under her breath.
Hope had no way of understanding, no way of knowing just how much her little existence had saved her father, her mother, her aunt and her uncle. She was far too young to realize the unimaginable light she held within her.
Hope usually woke all at once, ready for the day and demanding attention from the moment her eyes sprung open. Today, though, as if aware of her sleeping worshipers and quite content with the audience, the baby turned towards her father and fell back to sleep.
