I am my father's daughter. And I'm cool with that.

Or... maybe he just drank too much tonight. Sorry. Overzealous psych major. No. I think you were probably right the first time.
THE ORIGINALS 1X22 From a Cradle to a Grave THE VAMPIRE DIARIES 4X20 The Originals
Okay aside from the Pietà of it all, I have watched this episode upwards of thirty times (given this is my absolute favorite episode, that’s a low estimate) and still I was today years old when I noticed his hand on her stomach.
He’s holding her dead body, a dark mirror of the scene before that where she was vibrantly alive, comfortable, and smiling. He put her hand on her stomach and felt their baby kick. And now all her has is her empty shell. She is gone, and so is the baby girl they both fought so hard for.
Okay what’s your favorite episode of TO and why?
Ooh wanting me to choose a favorite? How dare you lol
Well, let's start by eliminating seasons 3, 4, and 5. But I will give a special shout out to 4x03 and 5x09 for all the good Klope bonding. I also enjoy both 2x06 and 2x07 for when Klaus finally learns about his dad from Esther, spends time with Ansel, and of course the amazing Klelijah scenes.
So my indecisive ass has narrowed it down to three episodes, and that's about as far as we're gonna get lol. These are just gonna be in chronological order...
1x16:
This whole 1x14-1x16 arc is one of the best of the show, period. But this episode is just the culmination of so much build-up from TVD and the first half of TO for Klaus and Rebekah's relationship. Klaus has been doing terrible things to Rebekah for centuries, but she's never been able/allowed to leave him. Klaus has just learned that his beloved little sister is the one who brought Mikael to NOLA to scare/kill him all those years ago, forcing them out of the first real home they had in forever. Things finally come to a head when they're forced to deal with their issues and realize that time away from each other is what they both need to let go and start rebuilding their relationship in a healthier way. It's beautiful, emotional, heartwrenching, and bittersweet as not just Klaus loses Rebekah, but we do too. The episode also has the baby Klebekah flashbacks, the introduction of the wooden knight, and the ot3 are all together (even if it's not their choosing lol).
1x22:
This was such a strong way to end season 1. Everything the family had been building started falling apart in the episode before, as all the factions are at war and the Mikaelsons aren't the ones holding any of the cards/power anymore. All of Klaus's efforts and schemes to take control of the quarter and be "king" again have failed and gotten him nowhere good. Baby Hope is born, but under terrible circumstances as the witches plan to sacrifice her. Hayley gets murdered shortly after giving birth, just to come back a hybrid. And the family all has to work together to save their "only hope". They succeed in saving Hope from the witches, but at a great cost. Klaus and Hayley have to make a choice no parent should ever have to make - to send their baby away from them just to keep her safe from the mess in the quarter and all their enemies. It's another emotional rollercoaster of an episode. I love the family working together in this one, as well as the quieter family scenes (Hayley and Klaus in the flashback, Klaus holding Hope for the first time, etc.). We also get the surprise at the end of more Mikaelsons coming back to wreak some havoc in the next season. Plus, who can forget that perfect, bittersweet ending scene with Klaus, baby Hope, and Rebekah? We're heartbroken at Klaus (and Hayley) having to send Hope away, but it's finally a way for him to make things up to Rebekah by allowing her to raise a child just like she always wanted :')
2x09:
You'll notice a theme with all of these episodes in that I love when they had the family all together and working on the same side. This one has the little family reunion with the ot3, Hayley, and Hope at the safe house. It's a Christmas episode, which is always bound to be a favorite. And they all get to be happy, if only for a little while. Klaus and Hayley get to see Hope for the first time in months, and proceed to have cute little bonding moments. We're finally seeing more of the adorable baby Hope too. There are some lighter, funnier moments, which are needed in a show like TO. Plus, we get some more great Klebekah moments, including when Klaus ("why would I want to cure myself of being the most powerful creature on the planet") is ready to sacrifice himself and take Rebekah's place in Esther's body-swapping spell.
...she’s practically your sister...
Marcel and Hope reunion as Klaus's kids, gave me so much feels, it feels like ages ago (1x22) and now all grown up (4x07)
