ok i was talking to myself (like a very normal person thank you for asking about lord of the flies and jack merridew and said this and thought it went hard so here you go tumblr)

So here's a little rant

I think it's really sad that I don't see a lot of people talking about how Jack is a bad person but it's not his fault.

The patriarchy and white supremacy and homophobia and everything that discriminates taught him that he is a good person who deserves control for being a white boy. He gives into savage desire because it's so easy to lose it all (your humanity) when you're convinced you're either winning or have already won. He rules his tribe violently and impulsively because of his need for control. He kills pigs to feed his need for power. The killer is the one with the power over the victim. The hunter holds power over the pig. Men over women, white over nonwhite, boys over everyone else, cis over trans, etc. He gets what he wants, and why shouldn't he? He's a winner.

i sincerely do not understand the amount of people who are like "oh my God how could you not like peeta?" like....y'all have characters you don't like. i don't like peeta that much. people need to stop this nonsense it's so annoying. people are allowed to enjoy a series and yet dislike parts of it because we're human beings. i have things absolutely adore but there are always going to be parts you don't like/don't jive with. it's fine.

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Every single time I post something that's not 100000000% percent positive about Peeta they come in howling. It doesn't even have to directly mention him, and they still fucking jump. I just got a reply to a post of mine, and the reply that was trying to dictate to me what Katniss' feelings for Peeta were, as if the post wasn't literally me saying the opposite. Like??

What gives, really? If they are that hung up on a character that they HAVE to refute anything not praising him, then they have a problem. People like and dislike certain things, people see different things, and people draw different conclusions. Just because someone's opinions don't mesh with the majorities doesn't give people permission to be annoying asses to them.
