There is literally nothing wrong with NCT having white people. Most of y’all didn’t have a problem with the Thai, Japanese and Chinese members (Mark and Johnny are Korean-Canadian and Korean-American) so there should be nothing wrong with people from another race being kpop stars. Kpop idols and mentors themselves said it’s not about Koreans performing in Korean. It’s just anyone performing in Korean. We don’t even know if they’ll be singing in Korean anyway. So you can’t use that “is it even kpop anymore”.
The real problem is that SM mismanages their already existing groups and idols. Everyone was hoping for an NCT Japan since there’s Yuta and Shotaro but they (SM) wants to jump onto a completely different project alREADY. There are so many trainees in the basement hoping and waiting and working hard to debut but time just keeps passing by and they lose hope then end up quitting or are told to leave. There’s always a new audition and there are always new trainees and since they can’t just pile up there they have to get rid of those they gave false hope to (sort of a reiteration of my previous statement). SuperM was supposed to be the one branching out to the Western market (hence, most of the lyrics being in English and the foreign production and arrangement of songs) but I guess since it didn’t blow up as much as SM thought it would they’re gonna do this NCT Hollywood thing.
