To Tell the Truth...

It was hard to put effort into her training.
Now that the witch theory was hanging over the edge, Ange found it more difficult to focus. It was once so easy to pay attention and give it everything she had into learning the martial arts. Now she seemed to have no focus with all these wonders plaguing her mind. Hell, even in her normal classes she found it difficult to process anything that was happening. Even her friends noticed.
‘Enough! I can’t tell you!’
What did that mean? Why couldn’t he tell her? It was becoming clear the whole witch thing was a hoax. What was her brother trying so desperately to hide from her?
She gave the dummy another whack above the head, but it didn’t have the strength nor passion she usually put into it. Eventually the bokken simply lay at her side. Surely her Kendo teacher had noticed by now. If he had been asking her though what was wrong, she hadn’t been listening.
She slowly turned and looked up at him. If he had any doubts before there was something wrong, the weariness in her face should be definitive proof.
“Kuro Ohji-san.... can I ask you something?”
