it’s an arena ; nothing new to the heda. they had battled in them time and time again in her youth. a youth so entangled with violence and danger she’d never quite understood where it had ended. but she was an adult now , and she wasn’t about to allow her king to fight in her name not when he was supposed to be the goddess incarnate. it was difficult to explain how she’d felt about it ; and it had certainly taken some convincing , and yet here she stood. victorious at the end of it all. as she knew she would. she had , afterall , been taught by the most well renound warrior in azgeda ; heiron had done many things but he was her swordsmaster , and deep down she’d always felt his talents had gone to waste being forced to instruct her , a girl who in all reality if she’d wanted , would only have had to endure one battle her entire life. 

         she certainly was not as good as roan , echo , or... caed. ( * or any of the other azgedians she knew for that matter ). but she could hold her own , especially against other clans , whos fighting styles were part of azgedian study. she knew exactly how to open up opponents of other clans just enough to slice through necks. ontari’s go to in battle was messy. the natblida found herself covered in red blood ; a result from the arena. some had gotten in her eyes near the end of it , leaving her to rub at them and smear it all over her face. she feels fingers grip her face as she steps back into the dark halls surrounding the place. she has not bled. and yet she can sense the frantic nature of it all. 

the girl pauses , letting the man look her over and wipe away at blood. roan ? jon ? whoever it was their fingers were far more calloused than she remembers. eyes closed and then she feels her heart skip as the hair is brushed from her face, a gesture so familiar that she has to open her eyes just so that she can take the man in. the cold demeanour washes away , she has no need for it around him. and even if she wished to keep it up , she’s not sure that the ice in her likes to form around caedmon. his radiance and warmth melts away any sort of inhibition that she might have.          “ mon pakstoka. i’m alright. ” , it comes out as a soft whisper. grey eyes are fixated on his face , and a whisper is all her heart can muster. she’d convinced herself that she wasn’t going to see him again ; not after he’d left on his last adventure.

When  he’d  gone  out  that  night  to  meet  Chrissy  liked  planned,  he  hadn’t  seen  the  night  ending  with  her  sleeping  in  his  bed  while  he  crashed  on  the  couch.  If  he  had  he  would  have cleaned  his  room  up  ahead  of  time.  He  was  messy,  clothes  thrown  about,  magazines  scattered  and  books  stacked  up  on  his  bedside.  But  there  was  no  way  he  was  going  to  let  her  sleep  on  the  couch,  nor  was  he  going  to  send  her  home  when  she’d  expressed  how  much  she  didn’t  want  to  go  back.  Eddie  hadn’t  asked  why,  it  didn’t  feel  like  it  was  his  place  to  ask  -  he’d  had  his  own  rough  childhood  and  he’d  left  home  to  live  with  his  Uncle  so  he  could  escape  it.  If  she  wanted  to  talk,  he’d  listen. 

“ Just  give  me  two  minutes,  okay?  Make  yourself  at  home. ”  He  held  up  two  fingers  as  he  backed  away  down  the  trailer  and  then  into  his  room.  Scrambling  around  he  grabbed  the  magazines  and  pushed  them  underneath  his  bed.  Then  he  reorganised  his  books,  shoved  his  clothes  in  with  the  magazines  and  tucked  away  the  empty  cigarette  boxes  he’d  been  collecting  unintentionally.  

“ Fuck.  Why  have  you  gotta  be  such  a  mess,  Munson? ”  He  muttered  to  himself  as  he  went  through  his  shirts  and  found  the  spare  hellfire  one  at  the  bottom.  That  would  have  to  do.  

A  few  minutes  later  he  reappeared  to  join  Chrissy  again.  “ I  don’t  exactly  have  any  girls  clothes  laying  around  but  here.  It  might  be  a  little  big  it’s  clean,  promise.  Passed  the  sniff  test  and  everything. ”  He  teased  her,  shot  her  a  wink  and  threw  the  blanket  down  onto  the  couch  for  himself,  but  only  after  he’d  given  her  the  shirt.   “ You’re  welcome  to  throw  on  some  boxers  if  you  want  to  cover  up  more.  Bottom  drawer.  They’re  also  all  clean. ”    Were  his  nerves  showing?  Was  he  finally  stating  to  lose  his  cool?  He’d   never  attempted  to  impress a  girl  before  and  definitely  not  a  girl  like  Chrissy  Cunningham.  She  was  one  a  kind,  way  out  of  his  league.  But  he  was  trying.   “ There’s  some  books  on  the beside,  you’re  welcome  to  read  them  just... try  not  to  lose  my  page. ”  Even  if  he’d  read  them  cover  to  cover  time  and  time  again.  Fingers  scratched  at  the  back  of  his  head,  the  other  hand  drumming  his  fingers  against  his  side.   “ You  need  anything  else?  I’ll  be  out  here  all  night. ”

honestly, until now, most stories were just that to him, stories. so to discover that gods existed beyond the asgardians, to find that the duat existed and that the fields of reeds existed was mind-blowing. to discover that the underworld also existed? he was speechless, and curious at the same time, a million questions rushing through his mind that couldn't all be answered at once.

teleporting from the mortal realm to the underworld felt strange. it made every part of his being lurch before it settled, and he could appreciate the realm around him. a quiet 'whoa...' slipped from lips, admiring all he had to see. it was amazing. ❝ this is where you live, right? like, half the time? ❞ that was how the story went, didn't it? half of her time here, half of her time on olympus. ❝ here and... there... ❞ words trail off as he steps closer towards the edge of a river, staring within. was it his imagination or had he seen something in the water?
