The show went up last night, so I can finally post! This is my piece for Light Grey Art Lab's TOBEYOU exhibition--a show about personal narrative and storytelling!
"Our Lady of Bloody Teeth"
Digital
Watercolor Gicleé Print + Gold Foil
This is a story I've been telling, over and over, since I was a kid. I've got wolf girls in my blood. I've always dreamed about being able to take off my skin and become something else for a while.
At long last this comic has been continued! Starting with this:
If you’re in or around the Minneapolis area, you can see it in person, along with a lot of other great art, at Light Grey Art Lab, which is having its opening reception TONIGHT from 7-10pm local time. They will also be selling a limited edition of ten signed* A5 reproductions of the comic – if you can’t drop by yourself but want a copy, they do have an online store where you can order one, a link to which I will share as soon as I have it. *by me, even!
What could it be ... ?
Pandora — Julia Griffin
The gods played a particularly cruel joke on Pandora when they gave her a jar containing all the evils of humanity, knowing she could not resist opening it. As I have grown to adulthood and experienced those evils myself, I sympathize more with Pandora and recognize the importance of the hope which she kept from escaping.
Original Artwork · Colored pencil on paper · 10" x 14" · $800.00
Hope you’re all having a wonderful Saturday!
Excited to be able to share this piece! This was done for a show with the excellent gallery, Light Grey Art Lab! The show, "To Be You", was all about crafting art that told your story in a way. For me, that prompt evoked memories of canoeing in the waterways of South Florida with my brother when we were kids, staring down at the murky water and wondering what might be looking back at us. The piece is available through this link , but make sure to look at works from the other amazing artists who contributed! https://shop.lightgreyartlab.com/collections/tobeyou-personal-narrative-tales-and-memory/products/river-encounter-pablo-j-rivera
I never posted the full view of this knight from before. So here he is! I think the horse's face is my favorite part! 💛🐴Next I'll post a quick flip through of the whole #zine . Part of the #tobeyou exhibition at #lightgreyartlab . Thanks again for including me! . . . . . . . . . . . . . #fairytale #illustration #childrensillustration #medieval #drawing #art #artshow #lgaltobeyou #knight
I’m making some travel comics about working in China for Light Grey Art Lab’s new grand reopening show “Tobeyou”. It’s going to be sick, y’all--they’re renovating the space and it looks AMAZING (check it out on their Twitter and Instagram!)
This Friday is finally the day, our five year anniversary and the opening of our brand new expansion! There is so much wonderful art for you all to feast your eyes upon, it’s honestly a bit ridiculous -- but we can’t wait until you get to see it all! Until then, here’s some more sneak peeks from ToBeYou! In order of appearance:
Recess by Evan Kang –– Take it On by Devon Bragg –– If I Were a Cat by Phoenix Chan
Go check out all their other work -- It’s all great!
We hope to see you on Friday! Have a wonderful day!
